Movie Review : Pokemon Detective Pikachu

Pokémon Detective Pikachu
This is a pure delight to enjoy from start to finish. Ryan Reynolds gives one of his most charismatic and energetic fun filled performances that’s hilariously entertaining. It’s also filled with great fan service to the fans of the Pokémon franchise with great Easter eggs that will leave fans satisfied as a fan of the games and characters I had great fun with this film as it really channels the pure energetic nature of what Pokémon is. It’s probably one of the most fun filled films I’ve seen so far this year as it’s filled with adventures fun and witty and hilarious moments with so much heart woven info it that you can’t help but love and enjoy.

Secondly , Ryan Reynold’s carries this film as without him this film probably wouldn’t of worked. Ryan is essentially using his same voice but it’s the charismatic energy he brought to the iconic character that made it such fun to watch. He brings such range and tone to his voice to really bring the character to life onscreen and due to Ryan’s sharp wit and fantastic comedic chops and range as an actor he gives a slam dunk of a performance. The supporting cast also contribute greatly to the screen but Reynolds brings the film to a whole different level with his work here.

Lastly, Pokémon Detective Pikachu is amazing fun to be had by getting immersed in everything Pokémon and a fantastic adventure with the adorable and hilarious Pikachu voiced brilliantly by Ryan Reynolds the film is just great fun and you will be laughing and smiling all the way through this film is a delight. I highly recommend this film.

Rated PG : for action/peril, some rude and suggestive humor, and thematic elements

This film takes place in Rhyme City where humans and Pokemon live as one and when a young teenager is sad after the loss of his father he finds out he may still be out their and with Pikachu's help they track done and find clues to lead him back to his dad

Ryan Reynolds : Ryan gives a fun charismatic performance as the iconic Pokémon character! Ryan has injected such life into this well known character and brings it to life with his great energy that grabs you and steals every frame of the film with his fantastic range and charisma. Ryan doesn’t really change his voice it’s just how he usually sounds but the slight difference he does contribute to the character is the layers he presents in his performance and the character that is fantastically done by Ryan. Ryan is able to bring the charming and adorable quality of the yellow lovable Pikachu to the screen with his great range of tones in his voice but he also was able to channel the more serious and emotionally vulnerable aspects of the character as well and do it in a way that’s genuine and very authentic while balancing great lengths of emotion through his performance and his voice and the performance he captures is magnificent as he is having such fun with this character and it shows onscreen as he just gives a very fun filled entertaining performance without it just being one dimensional but really show a lot of depth and that’s also what makes it standout in great ways. As his comedic timing is perfect and knew when the right moment was to inject the scene with comedy but then he knew when to tone it down and show more other emotional and different characteristics of the role and he does it brilliantly with great amazing passion and energy overall Ryan gives a really fun performance that leaves you smiling.

Rob Letterman : Rob brings greatly done direction to this film. I have seen a lot of his past work prior to seeing this film so I am familiar with his directional style of filmmaking. He usually injects very light hearted fun tones but with a lot of heart and here it’s proven greatly as it does just that. It’s able to take on a very emotionally strong message and plot line that is handled and presented in a very well done way. So the audience walks away learning something from this film from an emotional standpoint but also the deeper more emotional aspects of the film never overshadow the other elements of the film such as the humour and romantic side plot. It’s all very evenly balanced out and that’s one of the major things I love is the ability to showcase a wide range of tones and be able to execute them in a great way that never feels to little or to much and at the same time also he gives a fun time to be had immersing the audience in the world of Pokémon and giving them a great time while also servicing the fans but also being able to welcome new fans that may of not of grown up with this franchise of characters. He also gets fantastic performances out of his cast and gets a incredibly charismatic performance from Ryan Reynolds who brings the film to a whole new level. Overall Rob delivers greatly a well rounded film o enjoy while also staying true to the franchise and servicing the fans but also keeping it mainstream for the general audience this film is a great Pokémon film that is layered with great heart and emotion thanks to the great direction by Rob.
