Movie Review : Black Panther

Black Panther
This film is an astonishing feet for Ryan Coogler and Marvel! Black Panther sets itself amoung the superhero genre by giving us something different with deep meaning and an Incredibly emotional plot line all while giving us the extravagant action we all want it delivers on every front and that’s what makes it stand out and so much more.

Chadwick Boseman knocks it out of the park giving a truly amazing performance as the king of wakanda not just falling in the category of basic superhero performances but genuinely stands out as a great performance that also adds to the great aspects of the film is his performance and so many others involved. The performances from the entire cast is truly great theirs not one bad actor in this film the cast is perfect.

This film also has astonishing direction from Coogler who two
Years ago  knocked out of the park the rocky franchise by breathing new life into it and here has injected his style of Filmmaking and flare into the Marvel universe and wow what an incredible job he’s done no other directed could of pulled this film off in such great fashion like Coogler has done here. Overall Black Panther is a spectacular film that sits along the greatest superhero films of all
Time.

Rated PG - 13 : for prolonged sequences of action violence, and a brief rude gesture

The plot revolves around a prince in wakanda who is going to inherit the throne as the Black Panther for his country but the throne is a thing many desire but who will reign king?

Chadwick Boseman : Boseman delivers a knockout performance once again as the Black Panther! Chadwick has been having great roles lately with work in last years Marshall and now this he’s really getting great work which he deserve because he is underrated and that’s why I’m so glad he’s the one who got to take on the role of the black Panther not only is his performance good in the film but it’s so deep and emotional which you don’t see much from Marvel superhero films. He just is such a driving force in this film which lights up the screen with his electric onscreen presence bringing this character to life. He gives so much passion in his character giving so much raw and emotion brought to the screen. His range has always been great but his shifts in emotion throughout the film was amazing to witness. He could be charming and then humorous so smoothly but then just break the audiences heart with his anger and sheer desperation in his voice as tears flow from his face he is so real and emotionally raw in this film which you don’t expect and that’s what makes it great is that you don’t expect it. He makes the character feel lived in as it feels like he’s been this character for longer as it looks like the character has been lived in and it feels so real and that’s another thing I love from his work here sure it’s Chadwick but you only see the Panther onscreen. He brings the humour the charm and the deep emotion embodying the character fully giving a incredible performance as the Black Panther Chadwick is a powerhouse in this film and truly gives his best turn as the king of wakanda in this film.

Micheal B. Jordan : Jordan delivers a terrific strong supporting turn in this film! Michael has proven time and time again he can act incredibly well with great work in Creed and Fruitvale Station to name a few now he can add this to his list as well. He never has really delved into the villainous roles before and he dose so here with full force and wow is he astonishing to see on the flip side for once. He really is a nasty character which eh portrays and Jordan shows no mercy in this role but their is a sadness to his character as well he was able to showcase great emotion with a terrific arc throughout the film. Their are scenes where you can't stand what he's doing and that he's so sinister then the next he breaks your heart with his delivery of dialogue in a scene and you feel for him. Jordan was able to capture great emotional strength in his performance that made it so enjoyable to watch from the moment he was onscreen to his last scene. He just has great fun in this role showing so many layers and also shows us the audience his fantastic range as an actor. I've always said his emotional range is incredible and he feels very real onscreen when he dose which he shows here brilliantly. Overall it was terrific to see Michael explore places emotionally and role wise we haven't seen before and just give us something new which was terrific to watch and turned out to be one of the best parts of the film giving another strong performance here.

Andy Serkis : Serkis is so much damn fun in this film! Serkis is one of the most incredible character actors ever and he can transform from characters like Golum to Caesar to a role like this. Serkis truly amazes me every time he comes out of the gate swinging and always entertains the audience and chews up the scenery with his great talent no matter how little his role is he makes an impact and he dose so greatly here. This is his second outing as this character as we have seen him previously in Avengers 2 but he had more screen time and he got to explore the character more and he was so damn enjoyable to watch. He's incredible and I'm not just trying to shower him in compliments for the sake of it I am because it is true and he looks different and sounds different he totally embodies this character from head to toe truly transforming into his character. Their are scenes that the tension is so damn tight he will break into this husky laugh that is both humorous and dark and he walks that fine line with those tones. Theirs a scene for example in the beginning where he shoots a guy he could of easily of made that a serious moment but decided to go humorous now that doesn't always pay off but he knows the right time to shift and he did it so smoothly and greatly it paid off amazingly. Then theirs the next where he's talking and singing in a funny tone for most of the scene but then he switches it halfway through the scene and catches you off guard and goes totally dark and has this hateful look in his eye and intensity in his voice. He just transitioned perfectly having fantastic timing showing incredible ranges of emotion throughout the film while also just having a blast with the character at hand. He's not in the film for much but for the screen time he dose have wow he steals the scene and when he's not onscreen you want more. Serkis gives one of his best performances I've seen and just turns in this truly brilliant supporting turn you can't help but want more of.

Danai Gurria : Danai delivers a tremendous supporting turn in this film! This actress is sadly not that well known by many she had a small role in last years mixed reviewed film All Eyes on me which I did see and thought she was one of the few best parts of that film. I was so glad to see her in this film and see what she could bring to the character and film that's new and she amazes me giving a strong performance in the film. She plays one of the second in hand to the king and she never lets emotion make an impact on her decisions period and I admire that but she also knows what's right and when to break the rules. She plays this character who's very at times undecided with great passion and great emotion that just roars amazement onscreen. She is actually quite a important character in the film so she's onscreen for majority of the film and wow is she incredible from the great raw emotion to the surprisingly brilliant comedic timing she packs so much into this performance you can't look away. She brings this intensity to her that is just the right amount but also knows when to switch it up and give the audience a break from the serious dialogue and can really make you laugh and that's what I love she balances those both perfectly resulting in a dynamite supporting turn here. Her delivery in scenes are incredibly powerful she just brings the words to life giving it such passion you are blown away with her great work here. Overall Danai gives a truly spectacular performance that shouldn't go unnoticed overall a brilliant performance on her part.

Ryan Coogler : Ryan is one of my favourite directors and has outdone himself once again! He amazed me a few years ago with his dramatic take with Fruitvale Station then he impressed the hell out of me with his great mark and direction on the Rocky franchise with Creed and now this he truly is a force to be reckoned with. His spin on this comic book character is truly genius and astonishing. He was able to take a loved character by many and also explain this huge universe it is set in while also giving great lengths of action and delivering on the emotional side too and he delivered it perfectly. He was able to capture the action adventure aspect but then also be able to have it feel very relatable and incredibly emotional as well which if not done right could go very wrong and he balances it perfectly giving it the right dose and the right tone to the film and audience. He also captured terrific performances from the entire cast involved getting electric performances that just leap off the page and come to life. He knew when to give the action and explosions but then also when to tone it down and have smaller and more intimate moments with the characters and it was brilliant on his part because his style is very different amount filmmakers and it blended perfectly with the film. He makes you laugh, grip your seat at times and also cry Coogler proved once again he is a force to be reckoned with and can deliver anything that comes his way overall Coogler gives one of the best directed comic book films and another well directed film to add to his list amazing work once again.

The Lighting : The lighting in the film was very bright and loud which worked greatly for the film. The colour scheme the film went for reminded me very much of avatar and I mean that in a great way it was very explosive with its colours and knew when to switch it up but also could amaze you with the scenery at hand. It was done greatly and right great lighting here.

The Cinematography : the film is incredibly well shot! The shots of Wakanda and the overhead shots were fantastic and breathtaking so we're the action sequences. It knew how to get the adrenaline pumping but also how to fill up the screen with its great eye for the imagery at hand. Overall great camera work here.
