Movie Review : The Tale

The Tale
This film cuts like a straight razor of utter emotion. This film absolutely blew me away with its storytelling technique and powerful performances provided with the film. Laura Dern and Ellen Burstyn shine magnificently in the film with sheer emotional strength that just captivates you to the end.

Firstly, the sheer strength Jennifer Fox had to tell her story and let it be seen by the world onscreen was incredibly courageous. As well her direction abilities were just fantastic and she really excels as a director showing great style that I have not seen in a film before. Their are moments where theirs a scene taking place in the past and the present speaks to the past character as it’s an interview and it’s so different and the way it’s done is so original you can’t help but be compelled by how she is showcasing the narrative at hand.

This film delves into very dark territories of a girl who at a young age was taken advantage of sexually and the way they explore the story in the film was well handled and deserved to be told to let her voice be heard. It’s a powerful story one you’ll be talking about when it’s far over full of shocking revels, powerful acting and incredible direction the Tale is definitely worth a watch

Rated R : nudity, disturbing content, Language

Based on a true story a young girl named Jennifer fox goes away to learn horse riding for the summer but things quickly become increasingly intense with the people their and lead to things that shouldn’t of occurred later on She try’s to meet the people that did wrong by her and confront her past

Laura Dern : Dern again pulls off another remarkable powerful performance. Laura just delivered great work off the small screen from Pretty Little Lies and now once again dominates the screen with another electrifying performance that demands attention. Her work in this is pure greatness her ability to be able to fully immerse herself in the role was incredible to watch. You feel for her you see the pain eating at her in her eyes the cracking in her voice it all feels so real and Laura goes the full mile to really make you see that. She is telling this story through readings and the way she’s so closed off and then will exploded if someone goes into her stuff but wants to be loved was an angle that was fascinating to watch unfold onscreen and how she could switch emotions in the snap of a finger and keep the audience wrapped up in her work at hand. She is one of my favourite actresses and this film showcases another great caliber performance from her that is just magnetic her heartbreaking emotion and incredible delivery makes for one of her best performances I’ve seen and one that will leave you stunned overall brilliant work shown by Dern here.

Ellen Burstyn : Ellen is amazing in this film! This Oscar winning actress isn’t a Oscar winning for nothing. She isn’t in the film as much as I thought she would be she is a supporting player for sure in the film no doubt about it but when she’s onscreen she brings such life to it. Her ability to crackle the scenery in her very pointed and edged lines with her delivery was amazing on top of the range she spans in this film. She has moments of sarcasm which is very witty the next she can be nurturing and the next she’s heartbroken and in tears and what they all have in common is her ability to make it feel real she isn’t just reading from a script she makes you see it and makes it look so real and she means it and she’s a force to be reckoned with onscreen. Her performance as the mother was one of the best Supporting performances I’ve seen all year she isn’t in the film much but when she is she is damn captivating  showcasing her incredible talent with great strength. Overall great work by Ellen once again.

Jennifer Fox : I said it before and I’ll say it again I admire this woman for being so strong to be able to showcase her story to the world it’s not an easy thing to do and especially when it involves sexual abuse. Fox shows great style as a filmmaker with her ability to go back and forth from past to present and merging the two beautifully with its narrative while keeping the Audience intrigued and bringing raw and real look to the picture that is unlike anything I’ve seen in a long time. She really shows great strength here incredible work Jennifer
