This film is not what the critics make it out to be! This film has received a shocking zero on rotten tomatoes which is lower then The Room how's that possible? Well their saying its terrible so I checked out the film sure it's not great but it's not bad either what expectations did they have for this film. Anyway I thought the film was good for what it was it didn't defy my expectations but it also didn't lower them. I thought Jim brought a very strong performance which we haven't seen him bring to screen in a very long time and was great to see him showcase once again. The story at hand was interesting and dose throw you for a loop towards the end and sure it may not be the best film you've seen all year but it's by far from terrible I definitely recommend this film just from Jim Carrey's performance alone. This film has interesting moments and scenes that went on to long but overall it's a brooding dark gritty film that is not for everyone and is carried by Jim's great work shown here.

When a detective is assigned one more case before his retirement he is thrust into a case involving a murder and a writer but do they both link up and how close is he really to the truth?

Jim Carrey : Carrey is a force to be reckoned with in this film! Jim brings a darkness and grim eyed look to his role in this film! Carrey hasn't given us a dramatic performance in many years but when he tackles it he is magnetic which he is here and you can't take your eyes off of him. He uses a polish accent and disappears I to this role of a detective trying to solve this case and the way Carrey shows it onscreen is electric to witness. He has scenes where he isn't even speaking and all you see is the utter anger and hate in his eyes and his ability to just show how he's feeling through his eyes is incredible and then when he speaks he crackles the screen with his dialogue delivery and his ability to throw himself in the deep end with this character giving his one hundred and ten percent to the role. Every moment he's onscreen your captivated by what he's doing and his ability to showcase so many layers and emotions within this performance. He hasn't given us something like this for years and he knocks it out of the park with a truly strong lead performance.

Alexandros Avranas : This director gave me mixed feelings! I am not familiar with this director but his style is quite interesting. In the film he shows brutal imagery of violence and sexual images and he's very real and honest in his style which I get but their are certain images that come off as disturbing rather then brutal honesty. I thought his ability to showcase the story as a dark thriller carried by Jim's strong performance was great. He did loose me at parts in the film because theirs talking but for the first 10 minutes we see just driving and walking and I get the real point of view but it comes off as boring. I thought he was strong at certain parts for his direction but also was weak at parts too. He brings this brooding dark feel to it that's interesting but also unsettling. Overall an interesting style of direction to an interesting film.
