Movie Review : Molly's Game
Molly’s Game
This is an astonishing film to watch! Aaron Sorkin soars amazingly with his direction and writing on this movie. This film is such a thrill to watch from its sharp and well rounded screenplay to the performances from everyone involved this film is fantastic.
Once again Jessica delivers an incredible lead performance once again with her great portrayal of Molly Bloom this based on a true story person. She knocks it out with Idris Elba also giving a great supporting turn here as well. Their is no weak link in this film everyone is on top of their game.
Aaron Sorkin did a brilliant job at writing another great script but also balancing fantastic direction for his first film this is masterful work he knocks out of the park. The film entertains you with everything the writing to the direction the plot and acting Molly’s Game doesn’t miss a beat and is worth the watch.
Rated R : for language, drug content and some violence
This film is based on a true story and revolves around a woman named Molly Bloom who runs a poker business but when it gets out of hand it goes in a direction she never saw coming
Jessica Chastain : Chastain is a powerhouse in this film! Jessica is one of the most underrated and best actresses and one of my favourite actors. She always gives her upmost all to every performance and that is what makes her shine is her raw talent and she showcases it here once again. In the film she plays a real Person named Molly Bloom and the way she plays her she starts her off as from the bottom and works to the top and then eventually that high life of excess gets to her. The way Chastain was able to give a compelling performance but also walk the line and stay true to this person was fantastic to witness onscreen. She is truly great the moment she is on screen she lights up the frame with her great charisma and energy and her line delivery. She can deliver Sorkins words so well it just rolls off her tongue and she brings such life to them she makes it spark and I love it. Her emotion as well is truly amazing as well their are great moments of sorrow anger and defeat all In which she gives amazing layers emotionally in the film. She shows such range and their is not one moment your not believing her she’s so genuine and real onscreen you can’t help but be so swept away by her performance. Theirs a scene where she’s sitting against the wall in pain and no words are exchanged just her and silence and the emotion I felt was so impactful but she made me feel it without a word and that’s powerful and I love how she could effect me like that. She just is electric in this film giving once again another great performance that the Oscars cannot overlook its a mesmerizing piece of work that is fantastic. Overall Chastain delivers an amazing performance here.
Aaron Sorkin : Sorkin is a master! Sorkin has been a favourite of mine for years due to his work of his screenplays the way he can craft a story and write dialogue is amazing. If a film is written by him or anything really I’ll watch it because he’s compelling and brilliant. This film just gives me another reason to keep watching his material because he tackles direction for the first time and wow what an astonishing job he dose. For his first directional debut I have been blown away from his amazing editing to the intriguing plot and the great performances everything fell into place beautifully. He wrote and directed this film incredibly well both parts being strong and not one giving less attention over the other the direction was equally as great as his direction and he soars with his sparkling dialogue and brilliant direction. This film felt like an episode of the Newsroom made into a film just only about Poker and he has this style of quick dialogue that just works and jells with the material at hand of the film and his style and this film mixed together created a epic film. Wow I can’t wait to see what he dose after this directing wise because he’s a damn good director and I can’t see what he dose next overall Sorkin is masterful on the page here and behind the lens.
