Movie Review : Sleepless

Sleepless
This film made me want to fall asleep so the title lives up to its name. This film is such a confusing action  film that tried to be so many things it got lost within the plot. first it felt like a direct rip off of taken then it abandon that and made it feel like Donnie Brasco and training day with the undercover stuff then it abandons that and goes for the departed look. This film was trying to be so many things it lost its main focus of telling a solid story. The only good thing to come out of this film is Jamie Foxx's performance besides that this film is a forgettable action film.

This film is about a cop Vincent who's son gets kidnapped and if he doesn't get this drug dealer his drugs back by a certain timeframe his son dies

Rated R : for strong violence and language throughout

Jamie Foxx : Jamie carries this film on his shoulders. Jamie is a gifted actor who's won a Oscar for crying out loud in his phenomenal role as Ray Charles in Ray so it makes me wonder why he did this film. Now I don't want to blame Jamie for this film being as bad as it is in my opinion I think he did the best he could with the script he was given and it's the writers fault for poorly constructing this film. Jamie on the other hand I think is a good performance in a bad movie he really dose a good job in this film with his fantastic performance as a cop who's just trying to get his son back and he really showcases his emotion and talent in this film. He's the only good thing about the film and when he's onscreen he reminds the audience he still can give great performances and he entertains and dazzles the screen with his great work in the film. When you see his character in distress or pain you believe it because Jamie is giving his all in every scene being one hundred percent real onscreen. Which made me invested in his character and made me enjoy watching him In this film. Jamie once again delivers another great performance.

Baran bo Odar : this film is a muddled mess due to not just the poorly written plot but terrible direction. This director I have not heard of or seen any of his past work but what I can say from seeing what he did with this is that he dose not know how to tell the story at hand. The film's concept was basically a rip off of taken and their were so many side characters and plots that got abandoned that the story we got presented with wasn't even payed attention to. Their were three villains in This film and when a side plot would get boring he would abandon  it then create another one and leave that one so nothing really gets fully resolved or explained. Stuff got thrown in just for the sake of it. The directing was poorly done on this film the person helming this Barban gave no investment into telling a proper story that made sense or trying to engage the audience whatsoever he just threw action onscreen and expected the audience to  buy it even if theirs no plot because hey we got action watch that the plot doesn't matter. You can't do that overall the direction was poor on this film and this film had the potential of being great but the director settled for just a typical action film very disappointing  direction.

The Lighting : the lighting in this film was laughable. The tones of colour used throughout the film was blue and white and at times to be honest felt like a music video. The lighting was all over and never had a steady tone it was very poorly done.

The Cinematography : this was good! The camerawork was great in the film it was able to show great wide sweeping shots of the city and the action which worked really well. It was great camerawork in a bad film.

The Music : The soundtrack was your typical action film it as rap and pop mixed together to try and get the adrenaline pumping I didn't buy into it. It was bad choices for the music it didn't fit the film and just felt tagged on.
