Movie Review : Kong : Skull Island

Kong : Skull Island
This film is a fun popcorn action spectacular thrill ride that is just a fun time it's impossible not to enjoy. This film is filled to the rim of action and great set pieces along with a great cast of actors from Samuel L. Jackson to John C Reilly and of course King Kong this is a truly big scale film you don't want to miss.

This film is about two scientist who believe their is life on this unknown island so they hire a crew to go with them and explore what is on their but what they stumble upon is not what their wildest dreams could of imagined.

Rated PG - 13 : for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for brief strong language

Samuel L. Jackson : Samuel L. Jackson is a complete badass in this film! We all know Samuel L. Jackson is one of the best and biggest stars in the film industry so when I heard he was going to be part of this film I was very glad to hear that because I knew he would bring a good performance and just pure fun to the screen. And he dose so brilliantly he plays this solider who feels the weight of his fallen men on his shoulders and the responsibility to avenge them. The way that Jackson showcases that onscreen was very well done he has this inner rage in his eye you see throughout the film that is truly amazing to watch he just really got me invested not only in his performance but his character to. But at the same time he walks the fine line of being a good guy or a bad guy and how he keeps us guessing all the way towards the end was really well handled I loved his performance in this film he once again shines in another fantastic performance that was enjoyable to watch from start to finish.

John C. Reilly : Reilly gives a tremendous Supporting performance in this film. John's character dose not come in to the film until much later on so he's not in it for a good half of the film but once his character was introduced he couldn't get me to take my eyes off of him. John delivers such a fantastic comedic, dramatic performance in this film which I think is one of his best performances in recent time. He brought a comedic tone to his character and to also lighten up the mood of the film but also brought this gentle side that was very emotional and dramatic which I think was balanced so incredibly well by him in the film. He got me invested in his character and it's just an all around great performance by John C. Reilly that shouldn't go unnoticed.

Jordan Vogt-Roberts :Jordan directs this large scale action spectacular so incredibly well. First thing to be able to take on one of if not the biggest Movie monster and showcase it in a 1970's setting and to make it entertaining is incredibly hard for anyone but he was able to juggle all the balls in the air and keep them up. He executed an entertaining story to get the audience engaged surrounded with likeable characters and a great scaled environment for this all to take place in. I liked how he was able to transform the film into a really authentic 70's vibe film. From the tunes to the outfits and especially the look and grain of the Lightning it felt like a 70's action film and he did that so brilliantly. At the same he also Delivers popcorn fun action for people to enjoy with Kong and great performances from the cast. I loved the war feel he brought to the film I loved the style of it all. Jordan also directed Kings of summer a few years back which I also loved and I can say he's knocked it out of the park once again with his great direction on this film.

The Lighting : The tones used in this film is one of the key reasons why I really like this film. The colours mixed in the film to bring the grainy vibrant feel to the frame was a mix of green and a gold feel to it that really made the film feel like this 1970's war epic which was spectacularly well done by the lighting team on this film. It really stood out to me and I loved it a truly great Job guys.

The Cinematography : The shots used in the film were very well done. Their are a good amount of scenes that really stood out to me. Such as a shot of one of the characters standing on this bridge and you see the camera go past him and wrap around and just the new ways the camera was able to express and explore the environment and action of the film was really well done I loved it.

The Soundtrack : since it takes place in the 70's it has a great list of 1970's tunes used throughout the film that was so fitting for the tone and feel of the picture it just was incorporated and worked so well.
