Movie Review : Life

Life
This movie is edge on your seat entertainment and it's entertaining from the moment it starts to the end credits. This film is to describe unpredictable and that's the strongest thing the film had was its ability to shock you with twist you don't see coming and I loved that aspect of it. As well the Score was haunting and to mention the beautiful set's used in the film it was fantastic as well as the camera work it all technically was breathtaking. To also showcase fantastic performances from Jake Gyllenhaal and Ryan Reynolds this film is a film that pays homage to films like Alien and Gravity but still stands on its on as a fresh original film that will make you jump creep you out and shock you Life is all those things including well crafted acted performances I recommend this film.

When a living organism is found onboard and starts reeking havoc on the spaceship the crew must come to a decision go into deep space with it and dispose it or bring it to earth the decision they make will be the hardest one they make but as well as trying to stay alive

Rated R : for language throughout, some sci-fi violence and terror

Jake Gyllenhaal : Jakes gives a intense emotional performance that dazzles the screen. Jake is a truly gifted actor with such great work in films as Nocturnal Animals, Nightcrawler and Prisoners just to name a few and once again he delivers a outstanding performance once again. In this film he plays an astronaut who enjoys more time in space then on earth and he is very attached to his crew like it's his family and when they go through such horror he is emotionally torn and the amazing emotional range he brings onscreen is brilliant. He can be so soft spoken at times in the film with his kind eyes the next he can be trembling in fear the sweat pouring off him and then the next he's telling so intensely you see blackness in his eyes. So overall you see such layers of emotion from his character throughout the film and his performance and it's so well done you can't take your eyes off him you believe he means what he's saying theirs such realism in his eyes and voice and I love it he's truly incredible in this film delivering one of his finest performances.

Ryan Reynolds : Ryan is amazing in this space thriller! Ryan is best known for comedy and recently most well known for his incredible film Deadpool. So we know he has brilliant comedic abilities but what he was able to shine in this film is his other side his more serious acting side we haven't seen much of and I loved it. In the film he is funny at parts and also comedic and he walks that fine line and it works so brilliantly. He knows when to tell the right joke at the right time it never felt forced it fit the beats of the story perfectly. As well his more serious side I got really invested into his character due to his ability to get me to buy his character onscreen and his performance. Theirs not one moment i don't believe what he's showing onscreen he just truly is entertaining in the film. He brought such depth and when he was serious and yelling the sheer look in his eye and tone of voice was all Their he was tremendous in this film. Overall Ryan delivers a truly outstanding Supporting performance.

Rebecca Ferguson : Rebbeca Delivers an outstanding emotional core performance in this intense thriller. I have seen Rebecca in her other work such as Mission Impossible : rogue nation so I have a feel of what she's capable to do onscreen. Wow she blew me away with her tremendous performance really shining in this film. She was always one hundred percent their in every scene going toe to toe with Jake and it was brilliant to watch. She was so real onscreen it felt genuine which made me care for her character even more she did such a brilliant job in this film. Overall Rebbeca gives a truly outstanding performance in this film that shouldn't go unnoticed.

Daniel Espinosa : Daniel dose such a fantastic job at helming this film. Daniel directed Safe House which I enjoyed so I know his style and he stamps this film with his style and it's wonderful. Like I said earlier it was unpredictable and I loved the aspect he brought of the twist which was great to keep you guessing as well as his ability to move the camera. He captured the look and feel of the picture so well. Lastly the way he was able to create such intensity and tension onscreen was genius as well as getting fantastic performances from his cast overall great direction from Daniel once again.

The Lighting : the tones were great. The colours used in the film felt very similar to what Gravity did with the use of dark blue and yellow mixed with a goldish tone which is what made the frame really pop out and seem really real as if you were in space. It did such a great job very well done guys.

The Cinematography : The camera work was fantastic! The landscape shoots were amazing it would really soake in the environment the film took place and just create sheer terror through the camera work and it's movements it's so well done I loved it.

The Score : what a gorgeous Score! The music composed was so well done the ability it had to express the scenes used was amazing as it just really understood the tone and emotional depth of the characters it did it so well it's definitely worth listening to such a well composed Score I loved it.
