Movie Review : The Founder

The Founder
This is an astonishing film that executes the story of the most well known restraint of all time McDonald's. This film not only brings the great insight to how McDonald's came to be but also show and tell things the public including myself never knew. By also providing top notch performances from Micheal Keaton and Nick Offerman. This film is well acted as well as well told the founder is one of the best bio pics I have seen in a while and a enjoyable film that should not be missed.

When a Milkshake Salaman named Ray Kroc comes across a small restaurant called McDonald's he is mesmerized by it and wants a piece of the action no matter what it takes

Rated PG - 13 : for brief strong language

Micheal Keaton : Keaton delivers a frame by frame scene stealing performance as Ray Kroc. Micheal has shown in recent years that he can really excel in serious material with his Oscar nominated role in Birdman to the Oscar winning film Spotlight. Theirs no surprise Keaton can wow audiences with his acting range in dramatic roles and he dose so once again with his outstanding work in this film. He plays a man who's main word is persistence and the way Keaton shows that onscreen is amazing. He speaks like a preacher at times and it's so compelling to watch he's giving his one hundred percent commitment to each scene. Theirs a scene where he is talking with the McDonald brothers and the way he is so calm by saying that the company isn't theirs was amazing he truly shines in this film. He changes his voice to the way he moves he is Ray and it's so transformative and it's mesmerizing to see not only is this one of Keaton's finest performances to date but one of the best performances I've seen all year.

Nick Offerman : Nick delivers a career turning performance in this film. Offerman is known for his comedic work in the television show or in smaller comedic roles in films. Such as 21 jump street, me earl and the dying girl just to name a few. So we haven't really seen Offerman excel in the dramatic genre before and wow he's truly impressed me with his fantastic supporting performance in this film. He plays one of the McDonald brothers Dick and he is a very stern and serious guy and the way that Nick would deliver his dialogue was just so full of passion and anger at times he's so believable onscreen. Theirs many scenes where Offerman and Keaton are in a scene together and it's just electric. Offerman knocks it out of the park with his great work in this film and I hope he dose more dramatic work because from seeing this I can say he really dose well in the dramatic genre. When he speaks his dialogue you can feel the realism in his voice and just the pure emotion it's truly fantastic to see Offerman channel things as an actor we haven't seen from him before overall Offerman delivers a truly outstanding performance in this film.

John Lee Hancock : John delivers another stellar bio pic once again. This isn't the first time John has directed a film based on a true story he did the fantastic Saving Mr Banks a few years ago. So we know he can do justice to bio pic films and he dose so once again with his great direction in this film. He brings this incredible true story to life onscreen but transforming the sets to make it feel really authentic and it's fantastic you feel as you are in the 1950's. To every last detail he was able to transform it back to the hey day of the 50's which was amazing as well as bringing this social network kind of feel to the film which I loved and packing it with fantastic performances from his cast. John has done once again another great job at helming a true story based film and cannot wait to see what he dose next overall fantastic direction.

The Lighting : The tones used throughout the film looked fantastic. The film is set in the 50's so it already has that look of a really colourful vibe to it but it just had this grain of colour that was so extraordinary to see. Their use of yellow and dark brown really made the films frame pop out I loved it overall great Lighting used in this film.

The Cinematography : The Camerawork in the film has some worth mentioning shots. Theirs a scene when Keaton says to his wife he wants a divorce and their is no dialogue from her it's just the Score and the camera at work and it was brilliant of how they were able to capture the emotion of that scene just through the camera it was brilliant. As well as a shot of Keaton looking at a McDonald's restaurant I thought it was so well angled and really looked great onscreen overall the camerawork was fantastic in the film loved it.

The Score : Great composed music used in the film. The composed music in the film was fantastic at giving this old feel to the picture as well as giving it a dramatic and incredibly expressive sound to the frame to help contribute to the scenes. It was so smooth and soft and I loved the sound of it in the film overall great Score.
