Movie Review : Silence
Silence
This film is incredible one of Scorsese's best! The film is shot to perfection it is gorgeously well shot. As well as the story that at times is very hard to watch and can be disturbing but is so interesting to learn about. The performance by Andrew Garfield in this film is terrific and I think is the best he's ever been onscreen. This film is a sucker punch to the chest it is emotionally draining but what a marvellous film Martin strikes genius once again with this terrific film.
This film tells the story of two priest go to Japan to locate their mentor and spread the catholic faith
Rated R : for some disturbing violent content
Andrew Garfield : Garfield delivers the finest performance of his career with his incredible work in this emotional punch film. Andrew has been having a good year with Hacksaw Ridge and now Silence he's shaping to be a terrific actor. I said The social network was his best performance but after watching his work in this film the work he dose in Silence is his best work to date. Why I say that because not only dose he deliver a fantastic performance but we get to see his character go through this journey in the beginning he's very catholic faith driven but by the end he's a broken man and the way we got to see Andrew showcase his emotional depth through that journey was captivating to watch. Their are so many scenes he's really fantastic in you can see him in the film that he is giving his all the sheer raw emotion of anger, frustration and sadness is all their and looks so real. He breaks your heart with his tears and moves you emotionally with what he dose with his performance in the film. He was one hundred percent committed and was his character and did a outstanding job at showing the different layers of his performance and character through his character arc in the film. Overall Andrew Garfield is truly terrific in this film.
Martian Scorsese : Scorsese showcases once again that is a master behind the camera and is one of the best directors of all time with his incredible work with this film. Martian has been wanting to make this film for over 20 years and he did r make it until he felt he was ready but it was a passion project of his and it's safe to say he exacted his passion project of his beautifully. The way he told the story was amazing it is a long film at two hours and forty one minutes. But I like he took his time to break this story down so you can properly understand and digest the content he's showing the audience. He also cast the perfect actors for the roles in this film getting outstanding performances from his entire cast. He is the only director who can tackle such a heavy subject like religion and translate it to film incredibly well. Everything was so well done in this film. He directed this film perfectly I would have to say it's one of his best directed work he's ever done overall Scorsese knocks it out of the park once again with masterful direction.
The Lighting : this film has gorgeous colours throughout the film! The way they used a rich sense of yellow and kind of had a look of Gold tone to the picture was fantastic it really made the frames shine and pop out. I thought the texture of colours worked perfectly for the film absolutely loved it great job guys.
The Cinematography : The camerawork is one of the best shot films I've ever seen. This film is perfectly well captured onscreen the shots of landscape and getting the audience emotionally captured in the film by showing the pain the people went through in the film. The cinematographer has genius talent I couldn't take my eyes off the screen the camera moved beautifully through every score capturing every moment and ounce of emotion. Overall perfect camerawork used in this film pure perfection.
The Score : The music composed is greatly used in the film. The harmony's and use of melodies to express the emotional pain these people went through through the use of music was incredibly well done. But also had great sounds of quiet sounds that was so beautifully well composed loved it.
