Television Review : A Series Of Unfortunate Events

A Series Of Unfortunate Events
This show surprised me it is not only a good show but one of the years best! From what the trailer showed left me nervous if they would do the book series justice. I was pleasantly surprised and I can say that this show was a fantastic loyal adaptation of the books. It really felt like the books had come alive onscreen. Instead of rushing all books into one season they broke it down to the first 5 books and the next seasons will do the  rest of the books which I liked it wasn't rushed they took their time to tell each book in the series as accurate as possible As well the performance from Neil Patrick Harris was fantastic it also didn't go for laughs it was quiet dark which is one of the greatest thing I loved about the show is they weren't afraid to go dark and have bits of comedy around it which is what the book series was so I'm glad they kept the style of the books in the tv series. It's a fantastic tv series and cannot wait to see what they do next.

The show is a adaption of the book series of the same name of three kids who go from guardian to guardian after their parents have perished in a fire and their Bonkers cousin count Olaf who will at stop at nothing to get them and their Fortune

Rated PG : subject matter

Neil Patrick Harris : Harris delivers a surprisingly brilliant performance to the role of count Olaf. When I first saw the trailer I thought he was just going to be funny and not to Justice to this great character. I'm so happy to say I am wrong Harris brought the perfection combination of comedy and darkness to this count Olaf. He's truly fantastic in the role it's very different then we are used to seeing him play. He is quiet dark in the show and I liked seeing that since we don't really see that from Harris last time we did was in American Horror Story Freak Show. He walks the line of being funny and dark at the same time and he plays it so well like he can be hilarious then terrifying in seconds which is a great transition he makes throughout the show and makes look effortless. Not only is his acting great but the Makeup on him was truly fantastic looked straight out of the book and he looked just like I would imagine Count Olaf. Was great to see Harris try something different then what were used to seeing he is truly terrific in the show loved his performance.

Barry Sonnenfeld : Barry has redeemed himself and shows the audience he is a fantastic director that people should not forget. Barry directed this show greatly brining the darkness that the book had but also showing the dark comedy. I also loved how he would have the author narrate the show and come back in forth in between scenes I thought that was very well done. He was so loyal to the books and he also was able to get great performances from
The cast. He brought the right style of darkness and comedy to be Justice to the book source and should be recognized for his fantastic vision on this show overall great direction from Barry once again.

The Lighting : The tones were greatly used in this show! They would use grey and black throughout to show the sad dark feel that the show brings which was brilliant. The only bright things would be the kids clothes and everything else being dark I thought that was very clever and well done love the Lighting.

The Cinematography: It had some shots worth mentioning! The shots of the sets and landscapes shots were so nice and smooth it didn't feel rushed it felt long nice smooth shots and let the scene play out which I liked. It showed this great universe we are immersed in and I loved how they captured that through the lens overall great camerawork.

The Score : The music is fantastic in the show! The composed music used for the show perfectly fit the dark serious tone of the show and felt very dark and I liked that it was well composed music that fit the frame
Perfectly great Score  loved it.
