Movie Review : Miss Sloane

Miss Sloane
This film showcases a tremendous performance from Jessica Chastain and a incredibly engaging plot. This film was very underrated during the award season so far of the performance given by Jessica. If you love great performance piece films or a great political thriller check this film out you'll love it I sure did.

This film tells the story of a woman named Elizabeth Sloane who is a lobbyist in D.C. Shows she will use her cunning and smart skills to win at any cost in the political game.

Rated R : language and some sexuality

Jessica Chastain : Jessica delivers one of her finest performances of her career with her Magnificat work in this film! Jessica has shown she has fantastic range as an actor if it's a supporting role in films like the Help or another political drama Zero Dark Thirty both roles earned Chastain Oscar nominations. We know that Jessica has the chops to carry a serious driven film and she dose so brilliantly with this film. She is so captivating onscreen theirs a electricity to her performance they you can't look away from. She is delivering grade A acting in her onscreen performance the way she would express emotion to the pure anger and madness that ran through her voice it was amazing to watch her do. As well when ever she would deliver a line I believed her completely their was a realism to her performance that didn't feel script read but actually felt authentic and real as if she was this character. Jessica is tremendous in this political thriller and unfortunately has gone under the radar for most of the award shows her only big recognition was with a Golden Globe nomination for her performance which was nice to see. Her performance in many ways shines like Gordon Gekko in Wall Street Jessica shows again another incredible scene stealing performance once again.

John Madden : John makes this modern Day political thriller feel like Wall Street and Ides Of March! John has done some fantastic direction over the course of his career from Shakespeare In Love, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel just to name a few. So I am familiar with his style of direction and it was refreshing to see him take on something that he hasn't really explored before creatively as a director. The film in which he presents us with is very well executed onscreen. He tackles heavy issues in the film that makes the film feel very real and authentic which was fantastic to see. But what I am most impressed with is the ability to capture such incredible performances from the cast and have very sharp dialogue for the character. He also to me pays an homage to films like Wall Street of Gordan Gekko's character just on how Sloane is constructed made it feel very similar in ways if you compare the two. To the Ides Of March he brought that political thriller style that was used in that film in his and it doesn't feel copied but more of a homage. Overall John helms this film greatly and shows his strengths in genres I haven't seen before and the result is fantastic overall fantastic direction.

The Lighting : The tones in the film felt very soft and warm and it worked greatly for the film. It felt that it had a white colour and black colour mix to the picture that really made the film stand out to me. I liked the use or didn't feel overused more just the right amount to evoke the right style to get the audience to notice overall great lighting great job guys.

The Cinematography : Great use of the camera in a few scene that stood out to me! Their are many scenes in offices and those are the ones that caught my attention to be completely honest. It felt like a slow smooth moving of the camera to get the right angle to present the scene that is being shown before us. I thought it was very well done to capture the stress and mayhem of the job shown in the film. Overall loved the camera work on the film.

The Score : I loved the composed score piece for this film! It felt very intense and times but also could change the shift to a mellow feel to it. It didn't go to loud that you couldn't hear what was happening in the scene but was loud enough for you to notice it. Beat by beat it captured the right tone and feel of the film I loved it great composed music in this film.
