Movie Review : The Greatest Showman

The Greatest Showman
This film is a dazzling epic! I do not understand why the critics are giving this such a low rating and poor review as I found it to be sublime. It’s entertaining from beginning to end with tremendous music, wonderful acting and just a fun time with an intriguing story that is all true.

This film first off wouldn’t be what it is without the heart and passion Hugh Jackman and his great work given here. He is truly fantastic and is damn good as the centre character. Not only dose he shine by the entire cast as well this film is just a joy to be had in the theatre seeing it on the biggest screen. The greatest showman is through and through a truly fun entertaining film that will have you smiling and singing.

Rated PG : for thematic elements including a brawl

The story revolves around P.T Barnum and how the circus was started and amazed people but had its fair share of nay sayers

Hugh Jackman : Jackman shines in this wonderful film with great work once again! Hugh has had quiet the year with Logan and now this and once again dose a fabulous job onscreen with his great performance. He plays P.T Barnum the centre of this story and the way Hugh brings him to the screen was fantastic. At first you see him full of such hope and spirit and Jackman brings that great charisma of his to the screen but also shows his other sides as well he doesn’t play his role one nite but he really explores the character fantastically. Their are moments of great triumph for him and their are also great moments of anger and sorrow and Hugh plays all of it greatly with brilliant emotional depth and range. He as well sings his heart out and dose a damn well good job at it and he just breaths such life into this character and shines as Barnum giving a incredibly well acted performance. Overall Hugh delivers once again another fantastic performance.

Zac Efron : Zac is surprisingly astonishing in this film! I know I am surprised too after seeing the film I was just drawn to Efron's charismatic performance he truly is enjoyable in the film giving great amounts of emotional depth at parts and then moments of humour and romance all wrapped up into one. He showcases many different layers onscreen which was great because then we got to see Zac explore places that we haven't seen him go before which was fantastic to see Efron widen his range as an actor and show his more serious side which he shows here greatly. When he sings their is meaning to the words as theirs such passion in what he's saying you get very caught up in it and get a little emotional from what Zac is bringing to the screen. He's just so compelling in the film and just gives such a fantastic supporting turn in this. He shows that great charm of his but then can break your heart the next and he walks that line beautifully through the film an overall amazing performance by Efron in this film.

Micheal Gracey : Micheal gives great direction on this film. This film isn’t your typical bio pic but he puts a flare on it and style to it that just is so intriguing to see. He tells the story of P.T Barnum and many people don’t like how he is represented in the film but I think he did a great job due to the fact that it was different. He shows the truth of who this man was by not showing all the happy moments but the more serious and emotional ones too and he balances it so well that you applaud him for executing it greatly. He brings the audience along for a ride with fantastic visuals tremendous set and costume design as well as great performances from the cast. He dose a solid job at helming this film and giving a fun film filled with amazing music as well overall Micheal delivers on all levels with this film giving a truly terrific time at the movies.

The Soundtrack: The music in this is amazing! The music in the film plays the most vital role in the film and it is woven through the film and story so perfectly. It never feels forced or tagged on it fits the scene and really brings levity and emotional weight to the scene that worked. Overall the music soars beautifully through the film and you’ll be singing it long after the film is over.
