Movie Review : Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2
The Guardians strike back with a terrific and enjoyable sequel. The film is a bright coloured action packed humorous film full of heart that is just a fun time to watch. The film had some really fantastic performances as well from Chris Pratt, Bradley Cooper, Kurt Russel and Michael Rooker. This film packs all the fun the first film had and you can't help but sing along to that great soundtrack this film is a truly great sequel to its predecessor.

This adventure leads the Guardians to Peter's father and him discovering his family.

Rated PG - 13 : (for sequences of sci-fi action and violence, language, and brief suggestive content)

Chris Pratt : Chris delivers a surprising emotional turn that is truly genius and a punch to the heart. Chris has been known for his more comedic work in his work in Parks and recreations, The five year engagement and Delivery Man just to name a few but we haven't really seen him excel in the range of deep rooted dramatic emotion and he showcases that beautifully in this film. Chris played Star lord in the first one and we got to know what he was like but he was more comedic this time around we get to see the more deep things that go on in Peters mind and the way Chris was able to explore that emotionally onscreen was fantastic. He was able to walk that thin line of comedy and drama what I mean is he would be making smart remarks with Rocket then be extremely heartbreaking in the next scene. So he was able to make those smooth transitions incredibly well and it worked out perfectly. Theirs a few scenes he really tugged on my heartstrings he was so captivating in this film. Their are scenes where he is yelling and screaming and crying and not for one moment do you feel it's fake you can see those tears that voice feels genuine and real which only makes for a more genuine and real performance. Chris just really impressed me with his range emotionally in this film and overall he's truly outstanding in this film and I can't wait to see what he dose with Star lord next.

Bradley Cooper : Cooper delivers once again another fantastic performance as Rocket the Racoon. Bradley impressed me in the first film with his ability to deliver comedy and he dose it once again with his great work in this film. In this film the timing Cooper had with rocket was amazing. The comedy never felt cheesy or forced he just knew the right moment to say certain lines and it was very well done. As well when I watch Rocket onscreen in this film I forget it's Cooper all I see is the character up onscreen and that's what I love that he's able to truly transform into his character you forget it's Cooper and all you see is the character. He just breaths such life into this wonderful character and once again turns in another great performance as Rocket the Racoon.

Kurt Russell : Kurt really shines through in this film. Recently Kurt has been impressing me more recently with his recent work in Hateful Eight a film where he gave a fantastic performance and dose so here once again. Kurt Russell plays the father of Peter and has a very big plan for what he wants to do and the way Kurt was  sable to play this overly passionate man driven by obsession but deep down lurks something much rooted and darker. The way Kurt was able to bring that to the full front onscreen was fantastic he was tremendous in the film giving a truly captivating supporting performance in the film. Their are so many scenes where he really stands out and most of them are shared alongside Pratt. The tone in his voice and the shifts he would make were brilliant he could be calm happy and so soft spoken and then the next he's full of rage screaming with such anger in his eyes and he can switch it so quickly and that's so amazing to see. He plays such a complex character with so many layers and his character is so fascinating you can't take your eyes off of him. Kurt knocks it out of the park once again with his great supporting performance in this film.

Michael Rooker : Michael gave such an emotional supporting performance in this film. This actor I'll be honest I'm not to familiar with but when I saw him in the first Guardians he caught my attention after seeing what he did in this film I'll for sure check out his other stuff. In this film Rooker plays Yondu once again but this Time what I really loved was we were able to spend more time with him and see what he's like and dig more deeper into his emotions and Michael did so well at showcasing those on film. He really explored such depths of this character to show so many sides we haven't seen before and it was fantastic. He gives a emotional performance because when he delivers his lines it has a impact and weight to it you feel it hit you and it was so well done. It felt genuine and heartfelt and he just got wrapped up in every aspect of the frame and I love that. Overall Rooker delivers a brilliant supporting performance in this film that shouldn't go unnoticed.

James Gunn : James Gunn is a visionary! The creativity this man has been able to come up with without copying or borrowing other material but giving original fresh and new content is truly amazing. He did that with the first Guardians and dose so once again with this film. In the film he sprays the film with beautiful imagery and colours bursted onscreen. As well as giving a engaging and fun action thrill ride of a story that got emotional at times and I liked that. As well he was able to give more depth to each character in the film giving them more weight and depth as a character which I loved. James just did a stellar job at helming this film and the vision he has with this franchise is absolutely amazing and I can't wait to see what he dose next because his style of filmmaking is so engaging you can't look away. He overall delivers a fill that's not to different from the original but at the same time flowers a fresh new story that lives up to its predecessor great direction once again from James Gunn.

The Lighting : The colours bursted onscreen is beautiful. The mix of yellow purple and blue mixed is the perfect combination and truly brings the screen to life with the use of lighting in the film. It immerses you into a new world and just has this really cool colourful vibe that you can't help but notice I loved it just did a great job at making the frame pop out great job guys.

The Cinematography : The camerawork in this film is fantastic! The shots of the space battles were so well done you feel like your in the middle of it all and it gets your pulse pounding and really is able to capture the sheer fun and brilliance of the guardians of the Galaxy I loved the camerawork great job guys.

The Soundtrack : The mix tape for this film was fantastic it has some really great beats that match the feel and emotion of the film perfectly it's definitely worth a listen if you loved the first mix. It'll have you tapping along the entire way overall I loved it.
