Movie Review : Captain Phillips

Captain Phillips
This movie left me breathless!! It had so much suspense I think my heart stopped for a minute.  Tom Hanks was amazing and Barkhad Abdi was a badass on screen. Best suspenseful drama I've seen this year ... Or ever!!

Rated: 14A for violent images (a scene of torture) and substance abuse.

Richard Phillips, a captain of a cargo ship, gets his ship hijacked by Somalia pirates.  Will he die in the middle of the sea untouched or will he
save his crew and get out of there alive and become a unforgettable hero?

Tom Hanks had the best performance of the year.  Best performance since Saving Private Ryan.  He put a scared look on his face like he would never see the sun again; he was electrifying.  He may not be with a box of
chocolates but he was the everyday hero.  He did everything  he could do but
in such a way that the pirates wouldn't know.  Definitely best actor worthy
and best picture.  If he doesn't get a nomination I will no longer have
trust in the academy.  This performance is the best one since Saving Private
Ryan and Forrest Gump.  His performance was the same as Heath Ledger in the
Dark Knight. Amazing as always!!

Barkhad Abdi was amazing.  He was the ultimate badass terriost/pirate.  But
when Captain Phillips got injured by the other pirates, he knew he didn't
want to hurt him  he just wanted to get the job done so he had a conscious.
Definitely Best Supporting Actor worthy - great job!

I know how I always say it's unpredictable but this one was a game changer.
It was different 1. Because it's a Paul Greengrass film you don't know what
to expect; 2. It's a suspense thriller.  In those films you don't know where
it goes usually; 3. It's a Tom Hank's film.  He always has you on the edge
of your seat with his looks and dialogue.  No film comes to mind when you
watch this because it's original.  It's a Paul Greengrass film he's an
amazing director.  He knows how to build the suspense to stop your heart,
feel bad for the hero's even the villains, and he can always make a
intriguing story and keep you interested.

Cinematography was amazing.  It brought you right in the middle of the
action so when Captain Phillips was in that lifeboat it made you feel you
were sitting right next to him great job.  Loved it; absolutely loved it!!

Music was great.  It kept you on the edge of your seat as it was intense and
exhilarating - loved it!
