Movie Review : Django Unchained

Django Unchained
This film was original so out of the box Quentin Tarantino is the master of
violence.  I loved it!  The story was so good, the acting perfection and the
sets were huge - loved it!

Rated:  R for strong graphic violence throughout, language and some nudity.

A man named Django Freeman is a bounty hunter on the loose with his sidekick
Dr. King Schultz.  They go out to find and save his wife from the clutches of hell itself.

Jamie Foxx had a strong performance. You wouldn't really expect him to be in a Tarantino movie but he brought such life to his character as he always does with his performances. I think Jamie Foxx is one of the best actors out there.  Since his Oscar winning performance in Ray, we knew he was a gifted actor.  His expressions were so rich that he made you believe he had vengeance and anger filled up in his soul.

Christophe Waltz gave a strong performance.  His portrayal as Doctor Shultz
was great.  The spirit and life he brought to it made you believe he was
doing this job for years before he came across Django.  I have not seen any
of his stuff before I saw Django but now I will see all of his films. He
deserves a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance. His character
has no emotional motive; he just does his job - he kills people.  Loved his
performance best supporting performance of 2012!

Leonardo DiCaprio gave a performance I will never forget!  His portrayal as
Calvin Candie was original and brutally violent. You wouldn't expect
Leonardo to be evil because you've never seen him evil but in this role he
does it so well that it's scary. I will never look at Leonardo DiCaprio as
sweet and innocent in his films anymore. Definitely Oscar potential!

This film was unpredictable, because as you know, Quentin puts you in a film
and keeps you intrigued and guessing until the credits role.  That's what I
love about his style.

Quentin Tarantino is one of the most unique original directors I have ever
seen.  He is like Tim Burton.  He brings his own style and genre to his
movies.  He doesn't copy anyone.  I now know why they call him the master of
violence because when he makes a movie like Django it's not an action.  The
film is a drama with traumatic violence and gore in it and the violence
isn't constant it's when you least expect it, which is why I love his
directing.

Cinematography was great!  Should of been considered for an Oscar
nomination.  He brought this old-style kind of shooting to the picture which
was perfect.

The music was a pop Tarantino original piece.  It was upbeat and catchy -
definitely worth buying the soundtrack.

Editors note:
At the 85th Academy Awards, these are the awards Django Unchained received:
Best Supporting Actor - Christophe Waltz
Best Original Screenplay - Quentin Tarantino
