Movie review: The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
I think the film was a fantastic "coming of age" teen movie.  It had a great story, interesting characters and a playlist that will have you dancing along to it.The film had this teenish Brekfast Club John Hughes feel to the picture which I loved. One of the best films of the year!

Rated PG-13:  for mature thematic material, drug and alcohol use, sexual content including references, and a fight - all involving teens

The story line is about a lonely freshman who is brought in by two seniors who show him how to live life to the fullest.

Logan Lerman's performance was magnificent. I have seen some of Logan's past work such as the Percy Jackson Fantasy film the  Lightning Thief. So I walked into this film thinking he was going to give a average performance nothing spectacular. was I ever wrong Logan stole the show with his incredible acting emotional and range. His emotional drive in the film was he was a kid with a disturbed past and the way he showed that onscreen was amazing. the anxiety and shyness Logan shows in the character was brilliant it made for a more convincing and entertaining performance.
When Logan delivered his dialogue you believed him it felt like he wasn't just reading it off the page he poured his real emotions into this character the anger, frustration, stress and anxiety. Which made for a powerhouse performance. After seeing Logan in this film I think he should do more dramatic films he is brilliant in them. Overall loved his performance

Emma Watson played a very convincing American teenager.  Well done Watson! She brought spirit, humour and wit to her character. The emotion she shows onscreen is incredible she would go from being all upbeat and positive to being serious or breaking down in tears. which as is amazing to see actors showing different layers of emotions. This performance is very different from her other roles in some small films she's done in the past . Including my week with Marilyn , the upcoming bling ring and the tale of despereaux. I think she's becoming a solid great actress she's veered away beautifully from being known as that one iconic role everyone knows her for. Her iconic role as Hermione granger from the potter franchise. This performance is Oscar worthy in my opinion I would love to see her receive one for this great performance.

Ezra Miller : Ezra Gave one of the best supporting performances of the year! before seeing this film I haven't seen or even heard of this actor. After seeing his performance in this film I will definitely check out his projects in the future. The emotion and energy he brought to this character was absolutely Fantastic. One minute he would be funny in one scene then the next he would be breaking down and crying he was able to show both of those emotions very well onscreen. The way he spoke and walked  he just fully became the character and just slip into the characters skin which makes for a more convincing and entertaining performance. he deserved a Oscar nomination for this outstanding performance overall a wonderful performance.

The directing by Stephen Chbosky was amazing because he wrote the novel.  Nothing is better then the actual writer of his own novel to direct his own film. He did a great job at having a dramatic scene then a more upbeat mood. what he would do if have a dramatic scene then a happier scene to kind of let the audience consume the dramatic scene and then laugh with funny dialogue which I thought was very clever.  he chose great actors to play these wonderful characters the lighting, the costumes the locations all of it fell into place perfectly. overall it was brilliant to have the author of the book at the helm of the film adaptation of his book he did a outstanding job .

The cinematography was amazing in this film.  It had great shots of Sam when going through the tunnel.  It felt like you were with them through their journey - it was great.

The music in the film was a popular playlist from the 90's - great music. It will have you singing along.
