Movie Review : Death Wish (2018)
Death Wish (2018)
This film is a hell of a good time and damn enjoyable! I don't know what got the critics so worked up about the film but I found it a Ton of fun. You got Bruce Willis mowing down criminals in this crime action film I enjoyed every moment of it. This film isn't just a great narrative but the movie never overstays it's welcome and clocks it at an hour and forty seven minutes not to long or to short and it also gives us a fantastic performance by Willis giving great range here while also delivering the film you walked in for. It's funny, it's action packed and it's just a solid well done film I definitely recommend people check out.
Rated R : for strong bloody violence, and language throughout
The film revolves a family man who's Also a surgeon and when tragedy strikes his family he takes matters into his own hands to make sure the People who caused him pain gets their dose of pain also
Bruce Willis : Bruce returns to form with his work in this film! Willis is one of my favourite action stars and for a while he's been giving us films like cop out, the straight to DVD film once upon a time in Venice just to name a few. He's had his share of bad films lately but we know he can do good when he wants as he's shown with work like Looper in 2012 so we know he still has got it in him. With this film I'm so happy and pleased to see him really dominating the screen and showing us why we like him. He has quite the character arc in the film as he plays a father who’s a surgeon and in the beginning is very calm and emotionally reserved then when tragedy is thrust upon him he switches becoming a total badass and mowing down people left and right. Why I mention it is due to the fact Willis isn’t just phoning in a performance he’s actually committed to the screen giving great work here and when he makes that transition you notice but he also brings great emotion to the film that you are invested in character and you believe what he’s delivering onscreen. He’s able to be very very sensitive and emotionally open in the therapy and more smaller moments but also is able to just beat a guy senseless in the next and his ability to make the switch and make it seem so easy is hard to do and dose it in such great fashion. He also has great moments of humour that’s not like hit you over the head kind of humour but subtle and I liked that he brings so much life to this character and you can tell he’s having fun with it you can’t help but smile due to the great work he’s delivering. He can be menacing then be emotional he’s incredibly layered Willis turns in one of his most layered, complex and generally one of his best performances I’ve seen in quite some time.
Eli Roth : Roth delivers once again in great fashion! Roth has always been one of my favourite directors due to the fact that when he dose a film he commits all the way if he dose a horror film he will make it chilling, if it’s an action film he will make sure you get what you paid for. He has this specific style that is just so damn original and unique currently theirs no one like him out their right now. He impressed me recently with his recent work on Knock Knock and has done once again great work with this fantastic film. Eli brings great amounts of drama, action and brutal violence without one feeling to much then the other balancing it out greatly. It just mixed perfectly resulting in a enjoyable film that leaves you satisfied. He also did a great job at giving a solid remake because some people are going to compare it and he made the film in a way that you can enjoy it if you haven’t seen the original but also can if you have also so it’s great. What I also liked was like I said earlier how he would deliver the tones through the film he knew when to take a break from the action and take it serious for moments and really deliver the emotional punch but also then when the opportunity presented itself for a scene that requires action he would go ballistic and all the way and explode the scene in great action that at times had brutal violence but he knew when and how to use it without it getting out of hand. It was a well toned film done well by Roth while capturing a great story with great performances overall giving a damn enjoyable film Roth delivers once again with great work on this film.
