Movie Review : Game Night

Game Night
This film is so damn enjoyable! This film is one of the smartest comedy films I've seen in quiet some time. The narrative is so original and compelling with great characters and a wonderful cast this film will leave you satisfied. First off Jason and Rachel's chemistry is undoubtedly electric they have such great onscreen magic that is just their adding the plot at hand their give and take between each other was great to watch. Also The two Performances that stole the show was Jesse Plemons and Rachel McAdams steal the show with their fantastic onscreen performances that just light up the screen. This film stood out to me for a couple of reasons and not just for the performances but from the screenplay point of view.

This film dose not take itself in a comedic element if you break the story down theirs a serious situation at hand but these friends think it's all a game so they don't know what is real and what's not so it makes for fantastic humorous moments captured onscreen. It is a brilliant original idea I've never really seen done before and it is accomplished in a way where the jokes never become forced or theirs no stereotype or any annoying character everyone in the story gives great value and the jokes never become tiresome and it just all worked which is rare.

As well they get you to care for these characters and just have a fun time at the movies which they do a great job doing. This film is a terrific date night film or if you just want to have a good laugh this film is great for many occasions and is just pure enjoyment at its best with great laughs all the way through and a truly enjoyable time Game Night is one of the best original comedic films I've seen in a long time.

Rated R : strong language throughout, mild violence

This plot revolves around a couple that are known for their competitive drive and host many game nights but when someone turns it up a notch not knowing what's real and not their skills are put to the test

Rachel McAdams : Rachel is fantastic in this film! I've said time and time again that she has a strong suit in comedy films ever since her ability to dominate comedic driven films such as Mean Girls I've always said she should do more because she's fantastic in comedy's. Proving here once again that she can steal the show with her tremendous talent at hand in great fashion. What makes Rachel so entertaining in the film isn't her ability to just deliver the punch line to the joke but her ability to have such great timing and it always lands and works greatly resulting in a great performance. She also can be quiet serious as well and she is able to make that transition emotionally so smooth and switch so well it just is incredible to watch. In the film she plays a wife who is completive with her husband  at games and she just wants to have a fun night and her ability to take the role seriously at times made it more funny to watch but also you can tell she was having just great fun with this role because she holds no punches and gives great laughs throughout the film. Whenever she's not onscreen you want more of her because she's so great at capturing comedy so well but also being able to show other sides to her character as well which she dose terrifically throughout the film. Overall Rachel delivers another outstanding comedic performance that is scene stealing.

Jesse Plemons : Plemons is surprisingly brilliant in this film! Jesse has proven to us he can act in work from Breaking Bad, the Program and Black Mass but he hasn't really shown his comedic range yet and wow he works well in comedy driven films. Not only is he hilarious but he has this character that seems shady and very quiet but over the course of the film you learn why and his take on the character was amazing. The moment he steps onscreen he is so awkward and gives off such a creepy vibe you don't know how to feel about him and Plemons dose it in a way where he shows so many layers to this character you end up loving his performance and character. He plays a guy who is still hung up on his ex wife and has little to no friends and his ability to deliver lines in such an emotionless and creepy way was incredible he just had this innocence quality to the character Plemons blends so well in the film and you feel bad for him. But he also can deliver fantastic strong moments of comedy and deliver it in such a serious way it comes off much more humours then if he was purposely trying to make you laugh. He's just so captivating to watch onscreen showing once again that Plemons can do any genre and nail it as he has done here overall a hilarious supporting performance given by Plemons.

John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein : Both of these directors have truly outdone themselves! Both helmsmen of this film gave us terrific work last year with Spider-Man Homecoming and now has knocked it out of the park once again with their tremendous direction here. They were able to breath such new life into the comedic genre with a new spin on it with this great narrative at hand.  They ensemble a outstanding cast of actors that all have great chemistry and all of which contribute to the film no matter how big or small. On top of getting you drawn into this original tale that is a cross between comedy and drama and with their style of direction mixed with those tones it was explosive in the best way. They knew when to go for the joke but also when to hold back and has serious moments one was never superior to the other balancing both out and having a even keel on both. They worked greatly with the script they were given and really gave it such life leaving the audience having a great time at the theatre which it is all about. These two have proven themselves in the past as great writers but now have proven to be incredibly talented directors as well. Overall these two know how to deliver a comedy film and one that's well rounded and enjoyable giving terrific direction here.
