Movie Review : 22 Jump Street
22 Jump Street
This film raised the bar on buddy comedy films! After I saw 21 Jump Street when it came out in 2012 I thought the sequel will never be able to be as good as the original . I was so wrong this film is ten times better because the sequel in a franchise is the hardest film to pull off . Because in the first film you introduce the characters and the story in the second film you have to give an update on what the character is like now and to live up to its expectations as the first installment . And this film did it justice the laughs were their they weren't forced it just came naturally . The story was great . The chemistry with Jonah&Tatum is hilarious and their just a force to be reckoned with onscreen their genius. This is the best sequel I have seen to a franchise since Wrath Of Khan!
This tells another laugh out loudly action packed crime case when Jenko and Schmidt go on a case to find out about a new drug called Why-Fi.
Rated R : Strong language some violence and some sexual content
Jonah Hill : He delivered another hilarious comedic performance . The chemistry he has with Tatum is brilliant the humor just feels real and natural . He is way more comedically entertaining in this one then when 21 Jump Street came out . You just don't know what's going to come out of Jonah's mouth or what he will do next which is great . He's always great onscreen another great performance I loved it.
Channing Tatum : He was once again hilarious in this comedic role. In the first film he was the sarcastic one but this time he was blanching comedy with serious dialogue Which was brilliant . He wasn't in a lot of scenes with Jonah like in the first one this one he had less because their characters were kind of drifting apart . So when he was comedic with his friends at college and then serious with Jonah it was great he was able to switch those emotions on and off easily. Another great performance by Tatum great job.
Phil Lord & Chris Miller : Their collaboration on films together is genius . They did earlier this year The Lego Movie (2014) . And it was a huge success at the box office I think their the best filmmakers out their currently . Their able to tell a compelling story introduce great characters and have sparkling dialogue and great fun along the way. Which is had to do all of that and still entertain the audience. Which is why I think their a dynamic pair because their able to do anything onscreen.
When their working together it's great I love their direction. Their direction on 22 &21 jump
street is just genius because their not trying to copy the tv show from the 90's .They May put little Suprises in their for people to notice but that's it. They don't force the comedy and gags they make it funny and entertaining . But they don't put to much comedy in it because they have to still remember its a comedy crime film so they don't loose that serious tone in the film that it's about doing a case. Which is great . I loved their directing and can't wait to see what they have planned in the future .
The Lighting : it felt like your average blockbuster crime drama . It was bright at the comedic scenes and when it was more of a happy tone in the film. But when it got serious they lighting would go darker which was great. Good job guys.
The Cinematography : It was great they did this thing I have not seen for a long time which was . They did split screen scenes so when Jonah&Tatum are walking it would lead it up to them both being at the same location it was great I thought that was brilliant . Great job .
The Soundtrack : They had some really great songs for this film like the song Work Hard, Play Hard . This soundtrack is full of great music that will have you dancing in your seat . Definitely worth downloading on iTunes.
