Movie Review : American Hustle

American Hustle
This movie was a period piece film. The acting was magnificent the costumes were down to the toe detailed . The directing by David O. Russell was fantastic overall one of the greatest films of 2013!

Rated R : some violent acts explicit language and some sexual content

 This tells the story of a con man and his seducing Partner when they cross paths with a FBI agent. But everyone hustles to stay alive.

Christian Bale : He gave a great performance but not Oscar worthy. I recently got around to seeing this film I loved his performance it is award worthy like Golden Globe potential but not Oscar worthy . Because he didn't put his heart into the performance like many of his other co- stars. But his emotional motive is great the fact he is constantly is having issues . And the way he deals with them are great that I loved . The way he brought this character was great because I have seen some of Bale's other work in films such as The Fighter (2010) which he won a best supporting Oscar for. Which was also directed by David O. Russell and co - Stared Amy Adams . So overall loved the performance if he brought more spirit and charisma to the character he could of generated more buzz and attention and maybe win best actor . But I loved it good performance .

Amy Adams : She gave one of the best lead performances of the year! Amy plays this mysterious smart cunning woman . This is a great performance on her part because she has recently been doing more serious roles The Master (2012) and branching out to different things which I love to see in a actor . She would of won best actress at the Oscars if Cate Blanchett didn't win . Amy brought such a emotional energy to this performance . The emotion she brought was thrilling and made you think of her as a real person overall loved the performance great job Amy.

Bradley Cooper :  He gave another great Oscar worthy performance . Bradley plays it so well as a hard working FBI officer . Bradley is taking a career turn around . Brad went from being the slick comedic figure from the beloved Hangover franchise to more serious roles . Such as Pat Jr in Silver Linings Playbook which earned him a best actor Oscar nomination To the FBI role in Hustle . He wouldn't of won at the Oscars for best supporting actor because of the tough contenders he was against . But he should of won they should of like have a tie with Leto  and Cooper . They have had a tie before for best actress why not do it again . But that's another story. This is Brad & Jennifer's second collaboration together they worked with each on Silver Linings Playbook which earned Lawrence a best actress Oscar. Respectfully and a bunch of other nominations . When they work together magic is onscreen they are great together I love it . Overall Bradley Cooper did a killer performance .

Jennifer Lawrence : She gave another stellar performance . She is one of the biggest names out their right now her acting abilities is amazing since she's never taken one acting lesson. With her Oscar winning performance in Silver Linings Playbook it showed us how extraordinary and serious Jennifer takes her acting . She puts a bit of herself into her characters like many other actors I watch it's great to see. She's not faking it you believe the hard times  her character is going though in this film . She was nominated at the Oscars for best supporting actress . She deserved to get nominated for the role and to be their . I think she is going to go far with the talent she has . This won't be her last Oscar nomination . Loved the Performance Jennifer you nailed it !

This film wasn't predictable at all because David O. Russell he gets you thinking on what you think the ending of the film is going to turn out like . But it's something completely different and he turns it on you which I love so it's great .

David O. Russell : It was stunning he is one of the strongest and artistic directors out their he gets the best performances out of his actors the best screenplay and costumes . Two years in a row now both of his films receiving Oscar nominations  for Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. I think now actors will be lining up to be in his next projects over the years to come . He deserved to win for a best director for Silver Linings Playbook but he lost to Ang Lee . But he will get his Oscar soon . Overall great directing David your one of the best directors out their .

Lighting : lighting was great they used old style colour to make it seem nostalgic . For the upbeat and cheerful moments the lighting was colourful and being creative . When it got emotional they used a sort of grey and dark lighting to really make the emotions stand out. Great job guys .

Cinematography : was great for the long scenes of Amy & Bale in the dry cleaners were extraordinary . Not many shots stood out some were visually beautiful .

soundtrack : The Music was great the soundtrack of course included a lot of 70's music . Playlist to Elton John's Yellow Brick road to so many other great songs in the film. I will definitely download the soundtrack for this film the score by Danny Elfman was great definitely Oscar worthy was beautiful just got me absorbed in the moment loved it .
