Movie Review : Ant - Man And The Wasp
Ant - Man And The Wasp
This film is a fast paced fun filled action extravaganza with terrific humour and a terrific fun performance by Paul Rudd. This film was very much needed as a lot of the superhero films have all been really serious in tone not saying their not good their great but it was nice to be able to sit back and laugh with Paul Rudd at the top of the list with his take on Ant- Man once again.
First off the bat the film worked for just from the sheer chemistry shared among Rudd and Evangeline Lilly their chemistry was a highlight of the first one and works wonderfully here again theirs just something about them that just gells perfectly onscreen creating great friction and banter. As well the sheer fun of the plot it doesn’t get overly complicated but rather just keeps it simple and pretty straight forward picking up where the last film left off. Along with genuinely funny moments throughout and a few touching moments as well that worked perfectly.
Secondly, What I also enjoyed here was instead of going back to the well and rehashing the same thing they expanded the universe instead of repeating the same formula which was great. They introduce new characters along with new interesting side plots that give so many questions we want answered and it leaves you wanting more where the action pays off the comedy works and it’s just pure popcorn fun.
Lastly, This film left me with a big grin on my face being completely enjoyed and wanting to see it again Ant - Man and the Wasp is a terrific follow up that expands its universe with the underdog hero we’ve come to love while delivering pure enjoyment onscreen.
Rated PG - 13 : for Comic Sci-fi action violence)
The film centres around Scott Lang after the events of Civil War and the after effects it has on him he’s under house arrest but can he follow the rules or will the Ant-Man life be to hard to resist?
Paul Rudd : Rudd Delivers once again another comedic and charming take on the lovable Scott Lang. First off I want to state when they cast Rudd for this role it was perfect casting because what is so great that what Paul brings to the role is his charming personality and he comes across as the underdog you wanna root for because he isn’t perfect and just wants to do right in the world and I love that. And once again he brings that style and charm back to screen with his second outing as Lang in this film. Since the first film and Civil War he’s now played him for two films this being his third he knows the character pretty well and what I loved about what he dose here is he always contributes something new to the character we haven’t seen before. In this one he has the funny witty energy he brings to it always but he also has a great emotional punch as well that balances so well in his performance. It’s the perfect kind of keel of emotion for him because it’s never constant laughs he knows when to simmer it down and have heart to heart moments which are needed and do pay off greatly due to his great acting. As well you can tell he is having a sheer blast onscreen with this character and just having fun and the moment he’s onscreen you can’t not like his performance he just brings this innocence and lovable quality to the character that is so enjoyable to watch onscreen. As well as having truly great chemistry with his co stars in the film. He has great layers with his character that he can dig into emotionally and really show sides of him we haven’t seen before. Paul Rudd gives another solid outing as our favourite tiny hero and leaves us with a grin on our face great work once again Paul Rudd.
Peyton Reed : Reed gives another solid work at direction once again with his follow up to Ant - Man with this fun flick. He brought a breath of fresh air with the first one back in 2015 and he tackles the sequel in a way that works tremendously well. He doesn’t retread the same waters of the first film but rather showcase new characters and new situations that he can expand upon in that universe. Which I thought was great and he also never lets the action become to over the top or to tiring and knows when to let the emotional moments flow and also when to switch it up and have some comedic moments as well he mixes those three key ingredients so well in his direction and it works perfectly. As well as getting great performances from the cast and engaging the audience with a fresh new plot that has terrific heart and pure enjoyment to be had in watching this flick due to the great direction by Reed once again delivering a solid follow up sequel.
