Movie Review : A Quiet Place

A Quiet Place
This film  is one of the most original, terrifying and unique films I’ve seen all year and in a very long time. When I heard about the overwhelming positive reviews this film was getting I stayed away from all trailers or any footage prior to seeing the film so I could go into the film blindfolded and I’m glad I was because it got me to enjoy the film even more knowing not much going into it.

John Krasinski has crafted an incredible film that is terrifying without showing much blood or the cliques that a horror film usually brings he goes the other route and shows the horror genre and flips it on its head by bringing it to a very quiet environment and it’s what you don’t see that he makes scary and the use of sound through the film plays a big play for the film which he approaches greatly using it to his advantage as an amazingly original approach that you can’t help but appreciate. He breathed such fresh life into the horror genre by showing something different and kept it compelling and scary all at once he has truly impressed me for his first directional Debut what a great first film he has crafted.

The performances as well are so compelling, even though their is not many speaking in the film and they use sign language their performance then falls completely on their emotional strength which Emily and John showcase greatly thought the film. I find it more harder to deliver a performance that keeps the audience compelled and entertained when you have no words or very little words to speak and that it’s all conveyed through their sheer emotion which they were able to show amazingly onscreen and really showcase great top notch performances.

A Quiet Place is one of the most original, compelling and brilliant pieces of film I’ve seen in a long time that brings something new to the horror genre and will have you talking about it long after it’s done this is easily one of the best Of the year.

Rated PG - 13 : for terror and some bloody images

When creatures have overtaken the world the only way to survive is to stay quiet and be carful if you don’t you die and not one person can make a sound or your

Emily Blunt : Emily delivers a gut wrenching emotional performance. Blunt is one of my favourite actresses working today as she’s given great work after great work and again she dominates the screen once again with her tremendous talent on this film. In the film she delivers very little dialogue and mostly delivers her performance through sign language and purely though her raw emotion that just lights up the screen in an incredible way. She plays the mother and goes through the ringer in the film overcoming great lengths of pain and hurt and you can see it on her face the tears that stream through her face to the intense fear through her eyes she shows so many layers of emotion that is electrifying to witness onscreen. She again is committed 100 and ten percent with her performance giving her absolute all leaving me gripped and at times very emotional. Emily again Delivers another powerhouse performance that is all emotionally driven and damn dose she do a great job. Once again Blunt is brilliant and steals almost every frame in this film.

John Krasinski : John gives a career turning performance. John as many know has crafted his career around comedic films so to see him showcase a performance that is serious and purely driven through raw emotion he knocks it out of the park. John shows such great strength in bringing to the table great emotion and showing sides to himself we have not seen before. When you see him onscreen the way he delivers his feeling through silence and raw emotion is so powerful to witness onscreen. Their is one scene where he has a conversation with his son was so well done you can see the genuine emotion he’s giving he seems so believable onscreen and you can’t take your eyes off of him. His performance like Blunt rest purely on facial expressions and he tells us how he’s feeling through the simplest ways and works so effectively. I would love to see him explore this genre of serious drama again as he excels greatly at it. Overall John delivers one of his best performances I’ve ever seen and showcases great lengths emotionally we haven’t seen him explore before in great fashion.

John Krasinski : John crafted one of the most brilliant original pieces of film I’ve seen all year. He was able to deliver on the scares without having to give us the typical jump scares and blood and in your face scares he did it totally differently and that’s what makes it stand out. He could scare you to the bone by using different ways of doing so and it working so effectively just by using the sound. The way he approaches the film was damn impressive to have a film where no dialogue is exchanged and rests on the sound and raw emotion from the actors is a hard act to pull off but he did it so well and it was perfectly done. He got you invested in the story and kept on the edge of your seat by bringing something totally different and new to the screen that we haven’t seen before which I also have to applaud him for the incredible writing as well. He shows amazing strength as a director here telling people he knows how to craft a story well and make it intriguing and show things that haven’t been done before and be damn entertaining which he dose. John brings a style to the film that is unlike anything I’ve seen before delivering great performances, great original storytelling and great scares with very little words this is brilliant directing at its finest John is a genius.
