Movie Review : Justice League
Justice League
This league had no justice in this mess! This film was the third strike on the Zack board. What that means you may ask well when man of steel came out that was the first strike and batman v superman was the second I said to my friends if he lets me down for the third time I'm done with his films this was his third strike. This film has more flaws then I thought it would.
Damn where do I start first off the story at hand was so stupid I'm sorry it was and that's the only word I can use to describe it accurately. The plot had a good start and was interesting but somewhere along the way it felt like it was ripping material out of Marvels films with the three boxes crap. I felt I had seen that before with the infinity gauntlet so it felt like a rip off from other material. The plot fell apart and just didn't make sense by the end of it which left me confused and pissed off.
Secondly, the film had terrible and I mean awful pacing it felt so long which is the worst thing to feel when watching a film. When you watch a film you want it to go by so fast you say damn that went by fast I want to see it again. But when a film is so slow your begging it to finish theirs an issue. The first 20 minutes went at a fine pace but after we get introduced to the team it just kept going and going and going and going and then when I thought it was over it wasn't. This film could of easily of trimmed 15 minutes off and it would of benefited greatly from it. So the pacing was an issue for me as a huge contributing factor of why I didn't like this film.
Lastly, The Villain was one of the worst constructed antagonist's ever put to screen. I may sound a little harsh but I'm pissed off with how poorly the DC universe has been structuring these films. Sure we get the occasional Wonder Woman and dark knight but most of the times these films miss the target and this one dose terribly. The Villain had very little screen time and all he had going for him that was interesting was his axe that was it. His screen time is minimal and he lacks interest and just was terrible which is rare because DC has good villains I don't know what happened.
The only thing this film did right was Ezra Miller who is the only entertaining thing in this mess of a film. Overall the film has a convoluted plot with terrible pacing cringe worthy editing and overall a terrible overly dark toned film. This film makes Batman Vs Superman look good which if it can do that means it is pretty awful this League may not see the light of a sequel with this train wreck.
Rated PG - 13 : sequences of sci-fi violence and action
Ezra Miller : thank god for Millers fantastic performance in this film! Ezra is a terrific actor who no surprise stole the show with his charismatic performance shown greatly here. Ezra when he first appeared onscreen of BvS I was excited due to the reason they cast the perfect actor to play that role and this film shows why he was the right choice. The moment he shows up he lights up the screen with his fantastic charm and terrific energy and humour. Sure having a character being constantly funny could be dangerous because it gets irritating fast but he delivers his great humour here in a way it lands perfectly. His comedic timing worked perfectly and never felt to much or to little it was just perfect. As well not only can he bring the laughs but he truly breaths great life into this character he becomes the flash and you just see that character onscreen which I love as well as him bringing at times great lengths of serious emotion. Their are parts where he truly holds nothing back and gives his most raw and it's heartbreaking but that's what so great about his performance theirs so many levels of emotions and layers and ultimately gives a damn entertaining performance you can't help but enjoy. Overall Ezra steals the show with a truly well acted and fun performance that will have you smiling all the way through.
Zack Snyder : Snyder why! This film had such Serious potential to be great but I didn't get my hopes up with this because of BVS and I'm glad I didn't bring to much excitement because he fails to deliver just in general a good film ... again. What really ticks me off is the over amount of dark brooding tones like I understand we need it for Batman and because he's a dark character sure but have fun films are supposed to be fun and full of laughs tears and everything we love about cinema. I get it if you want one of the films to be dark but not every single one needs to be look at the Avengers for an example that wasn't a dark film that didn't take it to seriously it just had fun which untimely made a great film. The problems with his films and this one is it takes it to seriously and doesn't have fun with the material it instead goes for the depressing dark feel which we don't always need. And also he just was juggling way to many styles and side plots and stories. He crammed so much good material into one film which could of been separated into multiple films instead of it feeling forced with the bombarding side plots every five minutes. To add the action was very minimal which is shocking since it's the justice league it was to much talking heads and little action which I'm fine with back and forth talking but give me some action. Lastly the plot fell apart due to the constant side plots toppling onto the story at hand which got lost in the mix with a poorly structured villain and resulted in a mess. Zack I think it's time for another director to take over because your take is incredibly dark and maybe focus on other projects because these aren't working out. Your a good director but these films just don't jell well with what you want and your style verses what the film is. Overall this film is a mess and mainly due to Zack loosing control of this train that ultimately crashed.
