Movie Review : Jungle

Jungle
This film is incredible! This film is astonishing truly from the powerful performance from Daniel Radcliffe to the tremendous camerawork Jungle is a film that must not be missed. This film reminded me very much of Lost City Of Z and the style of that film feels very much like this and I mean that in the best way. This film thought it's entertaining can be slow at times it is a slow burn the film takes its time and really lets it get into your lungs. For some people that could bother them as some would want a fast paced film where this film isn't I didn't mind it I think it worked well with the slower pace but could of picked up at some places. This film is brutal even more so when you discover it is based off a true story. The film brings the jungle to life and showing one mans will to live and for survival and it will keep you engaged all the way through. Jungle is a fantastic film that people should see as these kinds of small budget films sadly tend to get overlooked it is definitely worth a watch.

This film tells the story of four explores looking for gold in Bolivia when a guide brings them along saying he knows where it is things don't go according to plan and they all get separated. Will they live to tell the tale or will the harsh place of the jungle get to them

Rated R : Language, disturbing images and some brief nudity

Daniel Radcliffe : Daniel once again Knocks it out of the park with another tremendous performance! Daniel has been on a hot streak with his film choices and I'm so happy to see the film's he's choosing. In this film he plays a man who just wants to explore the world and finds himself in situations he didn't think he would be in when he gets separated from his group and is alone in the jungle the place he's in isn't so kind to him. The way Daniel portrays this person was amazing not just because he gives great line delivery that's a portion of the reason why he's so great in this but most of the reason he's so fantastic is due to the performance he gives later on in the film. What I mean by that is who he is in the beginning isn't who he is by the end he goes through this transformation psychically and emotionally and it's incredible to watch unfold in front of the audience. In the beginning he is full of such hope and will by the end he's grasping onto anything literally anything to stay alive and the sheer agony and pain he suffers in the jungle is painful to watch but Daniel delivers it onscreen in a way you can't take your eyes off of him. As well it's hard enough to carry a film where you don't have much dialogue and he's by himself for majority of the film that's hard to be able to carry a film by yourself and give a good performance as well as keeping the audience engaged and he dose it brilliantly. His performance reminded me of Tom Hanks in Cast Away and Leonardo DiCaprio from the Revenant. His emotional range is outstanding in this film. He goes through such harsh conditions and the sheer look of panic and terror in his eyes is heartbreaking also the shaking sound in his voice is chilling he fully commits to his performance here. By the end of the film he is skinny and limping and their is no sense of false emotion he brings such realism and rawness to this film that's truly special. He just gives so many layers of his character and of emotion as well. Not only is his emotion good but his transformation is remarkable by the end of the film I forgot that was Daniel onscreen because he is so in his character and the makeup is so good you can't even tell its him you see the character and he just disappears into this role. Overall Daniel dominated the screen with yet another truly outstanding performance.

Greg McLean : Greg gives brilliant direction on this film. This is a director I have not heard of or seen past work of prior to seeing this film. After seeing what he's done with this film I will for sure keep an eye out for his future work because he knows how to direct a damn good film. Greg brought something special to the film that really caught my attention. In the film he captures the audience with the great visuals presented onscreen as well as the great performances but the underdone she set in the film is brilliant. He gives the film the sense of isolation and terror by using the jungle around him as a character and that's just smart directing. He uses the jungle as a narrative to tell the story in ways it's a character to Daniel in the film and he was able to create fantastic tension and sense of hope and terror onscreen with such little locations. He uses what he has onscreen to wrap the audiences attention and pulls you in with this fascinating story at hand but also giving more then what you bargained for in the best way. His style of direction is something I haven't seen before where he uses locations as the character and creates great tension out of it by great editing as well as fantastic camera work too. He completely  immerses you with what your seeing onscreen and gives a great film. Overall Greg delivers on all levels giving a great execution of a story as well as great performances and an all around great film due to his great work.

The Cinematography : The images seen through the lens in this film is mesmerizing to watch! The use of overhead and wide long pan shots were Beautiful for the eyes to witness. It helped showcase the environment around the characters but also create a sense of danger and tension through the lens. It just got you to feel like you were there in the jungle seeing everything with these guys and the way it's captured is truly gorgeous to witness amazing job guys.

The Score : The music in This film is so good. The score composed for this film was the perfect sound to match the style and feel this film was going for. Giving off the sound of quick sounds but also was able to slow down and enjoy the scenery at hand by using soft mellow sounds with Long drawn out sounds and it's so perfectly composed it just gives the film another great layer to make the screen pop. Great composed score I loved it.
