Movie Review : The Babysitter

The Babysitter
This film was a entertaining flick! This film is a film about a babysitter who kills people is it good sure would I watch it again probably not. The film feels like an old fashioned slasher that has some rather gory violence and good comedy. The film is a fun flick you can sit with your friends and watch this disposable film. The issues I had was their was little substance and more style. This film has passable performances from the cast but not really anything special it like I said is like a call back to the old slasher flicks from the 80's. But even thought the film has some cool parts it lacks heart and scares which left me not disappointed but just with mixed feelings. This film could of benefited from more back story and more scares but just took the easy way out which is fine but just left me with a eh expression on my thoughts on the film. This Babysitter is a ok film that could of been better but not bad enough you shouldn't check it out.

This film is about a kid who is fascinated with what his babysitter dose when he's asleep and he finds out one night and he finds out she isn't who he thought she was

Rated R : language, graphic violence and some sexual content

Andrew Bachelor : Andrew Bachelor is quite good in this film. As the world knows him as "King Bach" he entertains the screen in this film with his fantastic comedic chops. He isn't in the film for as much as I thought he would be but for the screen time he has he's hilarious. Every scene he's in his timing was perfect and he just knew what to say and when to say it to just drop the right joke and it always landed. It would of been nice to have seen more of him but he still impressed me with what he did with so little scenes that I couldn't write this review and not mention him. He was the few things I liked about this film he will keep you laughing all the way through with his great work in this film. Overall a fun and hilarious performance from Andrew Bachelor.

McG : McG gives me a mixed back with his direction on the film. He has done a few films prior to this film that I've seen. He did terminator salvation and the Cameron Diaz spin on Charlie's Angles. Now those films I listed I thought were ok and was this film the same as his last work? Yes it is he makes the film feel like an old fashioned horror flick where the whole film revolves and happens in the house while also making little homages to classic films. While also giving a good dose of horror with lots of blood now dose that mean that it's a good film? Sort of he delivers on the blood for sure he has the gore but he lacks the scare and the character development I had no connection with any of the characters presented onscreen. The backstory to the characters had little to none so when they were killed off I had no sense of caring because I wasn't invested in them due to the little development within the characters the connection wasn't their so it lacked that. Secondly he failed to deliver on the horror aspect ok if it's a slasher I get it you use lots of blood good you've delivered on that but you still need to have scares that are effective and make it feel like a horror film and not like a typical 5 dollar bin film. Which at times is what it felt like he lacked the tension and the scares and he let me down to what I thought I was going to get. He got ok performances from the cast. The film is stylish I'll give him that he even makes a nod to fast times at Richmond high but even that couldn't cut it for me. Ultimately  I was disappointed on the direction and left me feeling eh mediocre direction on this directors part.

The Lighting : The lighting in the film was alright enough that I'll write about it. This film has good colours it is very expressive in its use of red and just everything making the screen pop and feel very vibrant and keep you in the film by the great colours used in the film overall good lighting.
