Movie Review : Ingrid Goes West

Ingrid Goes West
This film is terrific! It's incredibly well acted and entertaining film that will have you intrigued till the very end. This film is so compelling to watch unfold with an amazing original concept story that is truly terrifying and grounded in such reality it's scary to witness what your watching at times. As well the performance given by Aubrey Plaza is truly outstanding she delivers career best work here and it's so good.

This film flew way under the radar this year and it's sad if did because this film is truly one of the most original and all around one of the best of the year but due to the big blockbuster films the smaller films get overlooked. This film is truly worth checking out due to the incredibly compelling plot at hand to the terrific performances and the style this film explodes onscreen with as well as caring a message to walk away with. Ingrid Goes West is truly a spectacular film.

This film is about a girl who is mentally ill and becomes obsessed with a Instagram star online and follows her every move until she becomes her best friend and it only gets worse from their

Rated R : strong language throughout, some sexual content and drug use

Aubrey Plaza : Aubrey gives an amazing performance in this film! Aubrey delivers a solid performance here showcasing truly fantastic range. Plaza is known for her more comedic roles in films like mike and Dave need wedding dates and a few others but we haven't really seen her tackle drama before and man dose she do a good job at it. In this film she plays a crazed fan who becomes obsessed with this Instagram star and stalks her into becoming her friend. Now she could of easily of played this role as psychotic over the walls crazy person which she didn't she went the total other route and played it creepy but with a smile which I find more terrifying but also effective. What I mean is she was able to be creepy at times but hide that creepiness behind that smile and you know her intentions and her delivery and emotion is just stunning to witness. In the film she ranges from an array of emotions from being happy and smiling and positive to downright angry and yelling within the flip of a switch and it's great to watch because we get to see so many sides to Aubrey we haven't seen her tackle before and it's fantastic. She really got into the skin of this character really make you believe she was this person when she cries it feels genuine and that's what you want to get from the actor which she delivers greatly throughout the film great emotional range. She just dazzles the screen with her work in this film she is just truly amazing in this film and shouldn't go unnoticed Aubrey delivers a chilling performance with great depth and fantastic emotion what a great performance.

Matt Spicer : Matt knocks it out of the park with this film! Matt I have has no prior knowledge with before seeing this film. He impressed me with his incredible direction on this film as well as the writing. Matt was able to craft together a story that was compelling and set in today's standards really grounding it in reality bringing a social media feel to the picture. I love the style he went for with this film he made it a drama but also had great elements of comedy and also emotional moments too he had different styles in this film and it just gelled so perfectly. He also was able to bring a message for people to walk away with at the end and I love that. His style was great he kept it so fast paced it never slows down for a moment if it dose it isn't for long and it pays off because he has some really great emotional moments that let the actors showcase their acting. As well he surrounds the film with characters we care for and connect with he gets us to connect or relate to them in some way which i love. He just has this indie drama feel to this film that is so intriguing to watch. When it dose get dark and it really dose at times he isn't afraid to go all the way and show it for what it is not sugar coating it and I respect that. I love how he webbed it with social media and how scary it can be something like this has never been really explored before and it's so great to watch he did a incredible job writing and directing this film. Overall Matt delivers on all levels.

The Lighting : The colours I love in this film. This film has a west LA vibe to it and really uses the vibrant colours of orange and gold and it just blends so well onscreen and really makes the frame pop and just stand out. I liked the explosion of colour in the film it really brought the screen to life and gave the scenes more substance with the colours I loved it great job guys.
