Movie Review : Kingsman : The Golden Circle

Kingsman : The Golden Circle
This film was a fun enjoyable flick! Kingsman the Golden Circle is a fun film to watch but isn't as good as its predecessor which is hard enough  to do as they set the bar for that film so high it would be so hard to make it better then the first. That being said I enjoyed this film quiet a bit first off the performances given by Julianne Moore and Taron Edgerton are simply fantastic in the film. It is filled to the rim with great comedy and action throughout this film. Now that's where things go a little on the wrong side for me.

The problems I had with the film is that is wasn't that it was a bad film at all I at fully find this film very enjoyable unlike most critics but one of the few issues I had was. The misleading marketing of the casting of the film. In the film's promotional material such as the trailer for the movie they really pushed to show us that Jess Bridges and Channing Tatum making us think they were going to be a big contributing factor of the film. When in the film they are hardly in it and it's disappointing because on one hand you have mislead the audience to believe they would have a much larger role when they don't and secondly it was a waste really because what really drew me into this sequel was the great casting and my concern was if the entire cast would get equal amounts of screen time when they didn't sadly. Like if you have Bridges and Tatum use them I felt like those two in specific were very underused in the film.

My second issue I had with the film was its over bloated in your face action constantly. Sure the first film had a lot of that I won't argue on that but it had it to a minimal point and it never got to the degree of tiring or being overused. For the first film they had a small budget and came out with a terrific film since they got a sequel and the first film did so well the studio gave them more of a bigger budget to use. But not always bigger or more is better if they kept the film contained like the first one it would be no problem but due to the bigger budget they just went nuts. Such as the CGI and the huge set pieces and well done but so much action sequences. The film's style that first felt special got tiring and felt like they cranked it up from 50 to 100.

The film is in no means a excellent film but is it a bad film not at all it's simply an enjoyable film that you can have in the theatre it's a fun popcorn film  it's a fun film to just have a good time and enjoy.

The film picks up after the events of the previous film Eggsy is now in a full time relationship with someone but when tragedy strikes Kingsman Eggsy and the agents must full their forces together and team up with the statesmen a company connected to theirs in the United status.

Rated R : strong language, graphic violence, some sexual content

Taron Edgerton : Taron once again gives a terrific performance in this film! He blew all of us away with his breakout and now iconic role as Eggsy in the first film. Seeing him come back once again was such a joy to watch. For the reasons we got to explore his character more and see what other layers his character has. Which to me was fantastic because we could see different shades of Taron we haven't seen him explore much which he dose he a little bit showcasing more of his emotional range we haven't seen before which was amazing. We got to see him really showcases his more serious emotions more in this film then in the last and he's fantastic at it. He just can channel this character so incredibly well and it's so entertaining to watch onscreen. He brings the emotion, the comedy and the great style in his performance and doesn't disappoint overall Taron once again delivers a fantastic performance.

Julianne Moore : Moore steals the show! A lot of critics have been complaining saying her performance was different  from everyone else's in the film and not in a good way I totally disagree. I thought she was truly fantastic giving a incredible showcase of talent in the film. She plays a villain any in a way that's so different that from what you usually see. She's a psychopath her character and dose some sinister things and what makes her so chilling in the role is her ability to be calm and be so upbeat and laughing all the time. That to me is more creepier then for she was to just be full on crazy and not hold anything back but she is crazy but she is upbeat and hides with a smile which makes it ten times more effective.  As well whenever she's onscreen you can't help but keep your eyes locked on her she is so captivating in the role and she is entertaining in every scene when she's not onscreen you want more. She shows a side to her that we haven't seen from her before. The sinister and just creepy range of emotions she was able to show in the film was terrifying but so good and she's great at it. Overall Moore truly is a standout in the film for all the good reasons and truly gives us an entertaining and chilling performance you'll be talking about long after the film is over.

Channing Tatum : Tatum gives a fun performance here that will leave you smiling! Channing has had a fun year with earlier Logan Lucky and now this he is having a great year. In the film he plays a booze loving jean jacket wearing Kentucky cowboy and wow is he entertaining. From the moment he steps onscreen he has you work his thick accent to his line delivery Tatum really makes the character work and gets you so captivated into his performance and character within seconds. Sadly he isn't in the film for as long as I thought he would but with the time he has in the film he makes the most out of. He really shows his more comedic talent here mixed with serious emotion and the result is great it works so well. All the jokes he gives lands perfectly and his timing couldn't be any more great he just grazes the screen in great fashion with such an entertaining performance from a character you'll end up loving by the end of the film. He fully becomes this character and it's a truly great performance overall Channing once again gives another knockout performance that you'll wish you got more of.

Matthew Vaughn : Matthew once again delivers a great sequel to a great franchise. Matthew really worried me with this film due to his past work. I really loved his other work Kick -Ass but when that sequel for that movie came out I was so excited and ultimately let down now did he do that with this film no he didn't. But their are flaws for sure but not to the point of being bad like Kick -Ass 2. In the film he could of easily of rehashed the same plot points from the previous film and given us the same formula which he didn't he went a completely different route. That's why I think people aren't liking it because it's so different then it's counter part and that's difficult. Because you don't want to give the same beats from the first film and feel like your just retelling the same story but you can't go to far off from what people loved about the first one. To me I didn't mind it I love change and when it's something different. He also was able to bring a great cast of actors together from the dude himself Jeff Bridges to Halle Berry the cast is strong in the film all giving great work. As well he did a great job at keeping you entertained with the story at hand and making sure it didn't loose the heart you loved in the characters and the style from the first film. Matthew could of eased on the action because so intense every moment their was not really a moment for the characters to have more heart to heart moments no pun intended. Besides that I had no other issues with his direction I think Matthew is a terrific director and has a style to him that makes him different and unlike anyone I've seen in a long time and he truly stands out that's what makes him great. Overall Matthew once again gives us a great sequel without loosing the fun of it but also giving us something fresh and new great work.

The Lighting : the colour pallet in the film is terrific! What I love about these movies is the colours! The tone is so yellow and gold mixed together it really brings this vibrant and shining feel to the frame that just makes it pop. I love whoever is in charge of the colour scheme because it's terrific. It also besides the wow factor was able to key in on the moments and match the feel of the scene greatly I loved it.

The Cinematography : The camerawork in the film is great! The use of the camera in the film and overhead shots were fantastic! What I loved that the cinematographer did was use the it's ability of using the lens to really fill up the frame by showing as much as possible with great scope. It also did a great job at getting the adrenaline pumping by how the camera was able to follow the actors during action sequences to make it feel raw and real. Overall I really loved the feel and look of the film with its great cinematography.

The Score the music in the film was greatly used it had this big epic feel to it that was great. I loved the sound of the film it felt very much like the one on the previous one which I loved greatly. It was able to use great soft melodies and really make it feel like a spy film with its terrific score but also with its great use of music as well they intertwine both perfectly. Overall I love the music in the film.
