Movie Review : Sully

Sully
This movie is another fantastic film from Eastwood once again while also providing an outstanding performance from Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart. As much as I enjoyed this film like any film theirs flaws and their is only two major ones they stood out to me. The first being pacing I felt that the film could of been longer and I wouldn't of minded it which leads me to my second point.  I felt the film went to fast that I wasn't able to get a full understanding of the people in the film such as the co- pilot i would of loved to of learned more about how he dealt  with the plane incident. Like the film flight it not only included the plane incident but it showed inside the personal lives of everyone which made me get a better understanding of what they went through. So pacing and lack of character background besides that I enjoyed the film it is another great addition to Eastwood's talent behind the camera.

It tells the story of a captain who's both engines failed and made a emergency landing on the Hudson River to the world he was a hero but the government puts him under investigation to see if he did it on purpose or if he is the hero everyone sees him as.

Rated PG - 13 : for some peril and brief strong language

Tom Hanks : Tom shows us why he is such a respected and talented actor with his outstanding performances in this film. Tom Hanks has delivered solid performances over the course of his career such as Saving private Ryan, Forrest Gump and Philadelphia just to name a few. So we know Tom can deliver scene stealing performances and he dose it once again with his splendid work in this film. He is Captain Sully when I saw him in this film he looked just like him his voice was different his appearance it was amazing to see the transformation he made. He was emotionally raw in this film he is suffering from what had happened and just the stress that overtook him seemed so real you could just see the weight on Tom's shoulders. He is just terrific in this film adding to the list  of great performances he has done. He deserves award attention for his performance in this film because he transformed under the skin of his role while also delivering a emotionally gripping performance. Overall Tom delivers a powerhouse performance that you can't take your eyes off of.

Aaron Eckhart : Aaron delivers a fantastic supporting performance in this film. Aaron isn't in the film as much as I thought he would be but he makes the most of his screen time when he is onscreen. His supporting performance is superb I would of loved to of seen more of his backstory because I was so invested in his character. When he speaks he is so passionate and stands up for Sully when their pushing him around and he was so genuine onscreen I completely bought into his performance onscreen overall Aaron delivers one of the best supporting performances I've seen all year.

Clint Eastwood : Clint is a visionary behind the camera and he proves himself again with his direction on this picture. Clint has given us such masterful pieces of film as Million Dollar Baby, Unforgiven and American Sniper this film proves to us he can still direct films to that medium. He executes a true story honestly without making it sugar coated with fiction he shows it for how it is and I love the realism. He also cast the perfect actors to play the roles for who looked the most liked the actual person and then getting outstanding performances out of his cast. He just has this style of direction that is beautiful to the screen and is so compelling to watch overall Clint proves he still has the skills to make a outstanding piece of film.

The Lighting : felt very grey and bluish and the tones of colours used made the film feel very intense and dramatic. The tones were great at expressing emotional or no dialogue scenes it was well done great job guys.

The Cinematography : Their are great shots! The ones that really appealed to me was when you see the plane incident and the way they made you feel like you were in the middle of it was great. It captured the tension and intensity of the scenes greatly loved it.

The Score : The music was great! The music was very mellow and soft I loved it. It didn't need to be loud to be expressive of the scenes in the film it was very calm and matched the tone and feel of the scenes perfectly loved it very well composed.
