Movie Review : Imperium
Imperium
This film is a disturbing, intriguing and a well grounded story with solid performances. This film is a fantastic piece of film Daniel Radcliffe simply blows me away with his performance in this film. Not only are the performances strong the story is engaging that at times can be disturbing and is as well well paced. This film is one of the most under appreciated films of the year and one of the years best crime thrillers.
Inspired by real events a young eager worker at the FBI anxious to get a chance to get to work in the field gets offered to infiltrate the white supremacist organization by going undercover and the hopes of not getting caught or killed
Rated R : language throughout
Daniel Radcliffe : Daniel delivers a mesmerizing performance in this film. The Harry Potter actor has been making a name for himself in the film industry turning in serious roles such as his work in Kill your darlings, horns and is turning out to be quiet a fantastic actor playing in all genres showcasing his acting abilities resulting in one of the best and hardworking actors working today. I thought Horns was by far Daniel's best performance I thought their would be no way he could top that performance but I have to say this performance in this film that he delivers is his finest work of his career. Not only does he dominate the screen with his fantastic acting chops but he is able to bring layers to his character and performance that makes us more invested in his character and see his emotional range. In this film Daniel plays a FBI agent very alone and goes undercover to get information of a white supremacist terrorist organization. Daniel fit this role perfectly he I bodied the terror, stress and anger that eats this agent alive while undercover. At the same time I saw a darkness from Daniel when he's with the group that was chilling. He is able to go from quiet and serious to anger and complete hatred in his eyes and his voice and I believe the performance he's giving because he is so invested in his character he is just acting on another medium he brings meaning to his words it dose not feel like a script he's reading when he speaks you feel from the look in his characters eyes and tone of voice he means every word. To see that from Daniel that layer of authenticity is fantastic. Daniel delivers a scene stealing performance that should be noticed maybe even for award season because he is amazing for sure one of the finest performances I've seen all year Daniel Radcliffe is a powerhouse presence in this film.
Daniel Ragussis : This director has hardly an directing films under his belt this looks like to be his second directed picture and he knocks it out of the park with his direction on this film. For a up and coming director to take on a serious topic like this and a used plot like undercover which has been used a lot with s heavy cast of big time actors he keeps all the balls in the air. He brings a fresh and different look to the undercover crime film genre that feels refreshing and he engages you with this interesting plot surrounded with a terrific performance by Daniel Radcliffe. The way he was able to transition the scenes and beat by beat to keep the audience watching keeping them interested in the plot and invested in the characters he executes greatly. I can't wait to see what else is going to come from this director. For sure I'll check out his other work because he impressed me with this film it is great direction that needs to be appreciated.
The Lighting : The tones and colours used in the film captured the mood and feel of the story perfectly. It has this greyish dark feel to the picture. It makes you feel like anything can happen at any moment to this agent and the colours are done well to make the frame pop out great job guys.
The Cinematography: their is a riot scene in this film and the way the cameraman was able to capture the stress and chaos of what is going on was perfect. He made you feel tension just start to build up and it was done well through the cinematography and score overall good job guys.
The Score : the music felt like the social network, gone girl. It had that high sound quality that is able to capture the mood and match the characters perfectly through sound. They do that so well it pays off to the music plays a huge part in the film it gets you in the right mood for the scenes they music should shift or change and it would always be the perfect sound to match that frame incredibly well done.
