Movie Review : The Infiltrator

The Infiltrator
This movie is one of the years best pictures! This film is thrilling showcasing an outstanding performance from Bryan Cranston and John Leguizamo. Along with a nail biting story that will keep you on the edge of the seat until the end.

Based on a true story about a undercover agent by the name Robert Mazur who gets a investigation to go undercover for the cartel in connection to Pablo Escobar. He and his partner Emir Abreau work together to bring down the mob. But will they make it out and live to tell the story or will they get caught?

Rated R : strong violence, language throughout, sexual content, some drug material

Bryan Cranston: Bryan delivers a top notch performance in this crime drama! Bryan has been showcasing his more dramatic side lately with his last film Trumbo that earned his an Oscar nomination and now this film. Bryan plays a undercover agent who has a family and has to infiltrate the mob and not get killed or caught. Many times this premise has been done in films. But what makes it different in this film is not just the story but the performance. When you can believe the actors performance onscreen it contributes to making a good film and that is what was done with Bryan's greatly. The sheer emotion he expressed was fantastic he's worried he might get caught or killed and you see it in his eyes, his voice you believe him 100% he's just so committed onscreen in this film and in any role he dose. He also was able to tap into his dark side in one specific scene that blew me away with how he executed it. His transformation onscreen was brilliant he looked like the real like undercover agent as well when he delivered a line you believe it that he means what he's saying and their is a realism to his performance that cannot be ignored. When he cries or is in sheer anger it dose not feel like acting it feels real their is no flaw in his performance. He just simply transformed into this role when I watch a film some actors can do a performance but I just see the actor and not the character their playing. Bryan was so good and went to deep with his role I forgot I was watching Bryan I felt I was watching the character and that's great which means he's doing so well in the film. Bryan has really shaped himself to being one of the finest actors of his time and shows us once again in this film why he is the one who knocks. Overall Bryan Delivers a amazing performance that is one of the best performances of his career.

John Leguizamo : John delivers his best performance of his career. John is known for his voice work in the Ice Age films. So we haven't really seen his explore his more dramatic side onscreen in a serious drama. In this film we finally get the chance to and my god it's outstanding how good he is in the film. He's not in it as much as I thought he would be but when he's onscreen he dominates it with his incredible performance and life he just breathes into this character. It was fantastic to see him in a role we aren't used to seeing him to and he knocked it out of the park. He really should explore more crime dramas because he's fantastic in them and the genre suits him well showcasing his great acting. His character has comedic moments but also dramatic and he plays the balance between the two well making his performance convicting and entertaining to watch. Overall John delivers the finest performance of his career.

Brad Furman : Brad shows us again that he is a force to be reckoned with in the crime drama genre. Last time he brought us the Lincoln lawyer and amazed us with his execution with the film and the way he was able to do an authentic crime thriller. Once again he dose it again with this fantastic picture that he directs to great measures. Brad casted the right actors to play the characters and then was able to get Oscar caliber dramatic performances out of his cast. Along with brining a great story to the film that keeps the audience interest until the end. He's one of the best directors at the moment that can accurately bring crime films to the screen that are top notch. Every film he dose he shows the gritty side of crime he dose not sugar coat it and he will go as dark as he needs to to show it accurately if he has to and he dose in this film. Only Brad could helm this film. Brining also great suspense and tension to the scenes that keeps you biting your nails to see if they will make it. He did a great job with this film and I cannot wait to see what he dose next overall another great direction film by Brad.

The Lighting : It really made you feel like you were in the 1980's with the colour texture and tones you saw onscreen. It felt very dark and gritty and it just set the tone of the film right and really made the frame pop out at the right times. Greatly lighted I loved it.

Cinematography: the camerawork was fantastic. Their was a scene without giving to Much away. Theirs a scene where a car lips upside down and slides and my god the way they did that scene and shot it from many angles was great. It just made you feel like you were with Bryan feeling the stress with the way the camera moved and shot certain things very well done.

The Score : the music plays a huge part in the film and it is very well composed. It helped build up the tension within the scene and just set the tone perfectly. Also it would be very gentle and quiet then go very fast paced. Like for an example their is a scene where it's all calm and out of nowhere bam it goes loud it hits you with the score when you don't expect it and I loved that.  the way the music was done was fantastic
 I loved it.
