Movie Review : Suicide Squad

Suicide Squad
This film is a explosive fun thrill ride from start to finish. From the incredible chemistry between the cast or should I say squad. As well as the standout performances from Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. This film dose not disappoint one of the years best pictures.

Since the events of superman and batman's battle Gotham has changed and in their darkest hour the government makes a choice to release the worst villains and put them out in the battle ground to see if they could do some good to shorten some years off their prison sentence as well it's bad vs evil but who will win?

PG 13 :  for sequences of violence and action throughout, disturbing behavior, suggestive content and language

Margot Robbie : Robbie delivers a fantastic performance in this film. Margot has shown us before that she can act in different ranges of films and still keep the audience entertained with her complex characters. If it is for example the smoothing talking wife in wolf of Wall Street or the cunning thief in Focus she always brings depth to her performance and characters. Which she dose so well once again in this film as the perky psychotic Harley Quinn. What makes her performance so good or standout is because she steals the scene when she is onscreen. Even with the other cast in the scene including will smith she is able to outshine the other actors and really capture the audiences attention and make you invest and care about her character. Her character is so big in the DC universe and their were high expectations to Robbie's performance as Quinn. I wanted to make sure Harley was played right just like how she was in the comics and she dose not disappoint. Her emotional layers to Quinn is amazing I say because she can go in a scene from being perky and upbeat then go completely serious within seconds and make her emotion feel so real and genuine. Resulting in a better and more convincing performance making me believe that she is that character and she means what she says and it's great to see when a actor escapes into their role and becomes that character onscreen and that's what Robbie brought to this film. That's why she's a standout among the rest of the the squad overall Robbie delivers another fantastic performance once again.

Jared Leto : Jared Leto delivers a top notch scene stealing performance! Jared has shown he has a gift for acting from his perfect performance in Dallas Buyers Club which earned him a Oscar for his amazing acting. This film shows once again that Jared can steal the scene with his performance. When Leto appears onscreen as the joker he has this presence to him that makes you want to watch him all the time. The way he spoke, the walk he walked and they way he looked. Jared fully transformed himself psychically and mentally into the Joker resulting in a Oscar worthy performance. Sure he's not in the film as much as his co- stars but I will say from the scenes he is in he makes the most of it and captures the audience's attention and blows us away with his take on this great character. He just fully immersed himself as the joker when I watched him in the film I didn't see Jared I saw the joker and when I can't see the actor onscreen and all I see is the character that's when you truly see a terrific performance because then the actor is so convincing as that character and is playing it so well you forget what the actor looks like and just sees the character. Which Jared dose beautifully he deserves award attention for his work in this film he's absolutely amazing. He's not better then Heath Ledger's perfect performance in the dark knight but I will say Jared gives the second best performance as the joker next to Heath for sure. Overall Jared delivers one of the best supporting performances of the year.

David Ayer : David gives his finest direction to date with this terrific film. He directed sabotage and the war epic Fury. But I felt that he didn't reach his full potential in those films like their was something missing and in this film he had completed the puzzle. From the first frame bursting with colours to the fantastic cast. David reminds the audience why we fell in love with the world of Gotham and his style and approach to the film is great. It's dark but also keeps the balance of having light moments put in it to. To balance the elements of darkness and light equally I liked that as well the action sequences were well exacted loved his direction and pure vision for the film Overall fantastic direction David.

The Lighting : the colours used in this film was so well chosen and well executed. The way they were able to mix the tones of colours and make it like a paintball kind of colour was very original and interesting. Bringing great layer to the film making it pop out and brought this very vibrant feel to the film I loved it great job guys.

The Cinematography: some shots worth mentioning. Their is a shot when the joker jumps that is all I'll say and the way they shot the scope of the scene is Amazing really captured the feel of the scene loved it great camerawork.

The Soundtrack: the music in this film is brilliant. They use old tracks like sympathy for the devil and songs from Queen in a superhero film. Usually that dose not work but they made it work and it was fantastic it suited the tone perfectly great choice on the songs loved it.
