Movie Review : The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book
This film is a visually stunning modern masterpiece. Along with a strong cast with great one great performance to the next Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Scarlett Johanson and many more. I liked this film more then I thought it would a rare good Classic retell telling that is enjoyable from start to finish.

When Mowgli is threatened for his life by a tiger he must go on the run and survive the dangers of the jungle making friends along the way.

Rated PG : for some sequences of scary action and peril

Bill Murray : Gives one of his most entertaining performances in years! Bill really inhabited baloo and really had fun with the role. His character gose through some shifts of emotion throughout the film and he was able to make those transitions very smooth showcasing his fun and playful side but also tapping a bit into his serious side as well which worked out incredibly well. He's played some voice over performances in the past with Fantastic mr fox and Garfield so we know what he's capable of with kids films but I would have to say this is probably his best voice over performance I've seen him do. He had that Bill Murray humour we have come to expect and love from him having some jokes for the parents without getting to edgy but also being heartfelt at times he did a good job at making those both well balanced out. When he's onscreen you can't take your eyes off of him your just having a fun ride with him from the moment he appears onscreen to the last frame he's in he's just so much fun in this film. Overall Bill delivered one of the best performances I've seen of his in recent years.

Jon Favreau : Jon is a mastermind! When it was first announced that this film was being helmed by Jon I was a little hesitate if he would be able to properly present this classic tale. Since by that point in his directing path he only really done serious toned films and his most iconically known directed picture i would have to say would be Iron Man. But he did do a more fun family typed film with the film Chef but when I saw footage of the film and saw the visuals and cast I lost all my nerves for his ability to direct this film because he knocked it out of the park! He made it  visually stunning the sets were gigantic and the came work was fantastic along as well as casting the right characters to play these roles. His ability to be able to tell a story and intrigue the audience with likeable characters he shows perfectly in this film. As well when you watch the film you forget your seeing actors playing the animals you see the characters not the actors and that's what you want to see is being fully immersed in the film all you see is the characters and he pulled it off incredibly well. He has done a fantastic job with this film it is rare for a remake to be as good as its original and he achieved that outstanding job Jon you are a genius filmmaker!

The Lighting : it was very bright and vibrant and it was fantastic. It takes place in the jungle and just the use of tones and mixture of colours was amazing really made the picture perform on another medium and made the film pop out I loved it. Great job guys.

The Cinematography : Hands down jaw dropping frames! The angles and use of the Camera was outstanding. The were able to capture that sense of wonder and adventure and just their ability to look at things from a fresh way was fantastic. Great cinematography great job guys.

The Score :  John Debney is one of the most talented musically expressive artist I've seen in a while. This particular composer has done mostly kids films and I've heard his work but nothing like this this. This score felt big and emotional at times but also could be fun and joyful his ability to tap into your emotions through his score was beautifully well done. As well as making his style of music fit the tone of the film it really worked well and overall one of the best scores I've heard so far this year.
