Movie Review : Spotlight
Spotlight
This film is hands down the best film and most important film of the year! Providing powerhouse performances from the entire cast. Standing out is Mark Ruffalo & Michael Keaton. This film will defiantly be a force to be reckoned with in the Oscar season. This film is all around perfect.
This film is about how the church allowed priest to sexually abuse children for years and the spotlight team investigates the case that shocked the world.
Mark Ruffalo : His best performance hands down! Mark has shown us again and again that he is a great dramatic actor that can deliver great performances. Last year he proved it in Foxcatcher and now again with Spotlight. But what makes this performance different from his others is he functions on another medium. He plays a journalist and is passionate about the case against the church and the drive you see in Marks eyes when he's onscreen it is outstanding. The way he spoke and walked all of it he just went in the skin of this character their wasn't one moment you didn't believe him because he was so convincing and great in this film. Every scene he was in he stole the scene his emotional range hit a new time high it was fantastic defiantly a performance that deserves Oscar recognition for sure.
Michael Keaton : Another Oscar caliber performance since Birdman!
his portrayal of the editor of Spotlight is nothing short of amazing. From his dialogue and emotional range Keaton just goes deep into this role and comes out as a scene stealing performance in the film. Last year he showed us he could deliver a Oscar contender performance in Birdman and proves it again in this film. Keaton and Ruffalo both are contenders in the Oscar race for best supporting actor. Enough of the Oscar race Keaton's emotional capability in this film was jaw dropping. When he was angry, happy all these emotions you didn't believe he was acting you felt like it was real from the heart which made his performance even better. Overall one of the finest supporting performances of the year.
Tom McCarthy : Tom gives great direction that past my expectations and deserves to be recognized. Tom executed a very heavy plot line while getting great performances out of his actors. He had a great pace for the film making sure the film didn't go to slow and it progressed just right. He as well created great tones to the film getting the emotion just right. Their is no other director I know who could of done such a great job then Tom. He for sure deserves Oscar recognition for delivering this powerhouse film.
The lighting : Like is said in the direction the tones for the film hit the emotional drive perfectly. It had this greyish dark feel to the film that had set the frame greatly. Great job guys.
The Cinematography : Great camerawork this film had great angles. It was great at expressing the scope of the film and really immersed you in the film great job guys.
The Score : like the lighting it helped express the scene and the emotion of it. It was very soothing and then would go very fast I liked it very much great composed score.
