Television Review : American Horror Story Coven

American Horror Story Coven
This season is the best season to date! It was full of intrigue and cliff hangers that were so nail biting you had to watch the next episode to see what Happens next. Along with outstanding performances by Kathy Bates&Jessica Lange. In this season they show us why we fell in love with this show in the first place.

This time it takes place in a house but just not any house this house is filled with witches and magic. Four girls are summoned to attend this house so they can be in their rightful place along the other witches protecting the coven

Rated 14A : Strong bloody violence, disturbing images, mild language and sexual abuse

Jessica Lange : Her best performance ever given on the show hands down! Jessica has given strong performances in the previous seasons but she raised the bar and showed us why she's a two time Oscar winning actress. When she was onscreen their was this electric feeling that surged through her presence and performance that stood out from the cast. She plays Fiona Goode a two sided coin in many ways she cares about her family but she's very mean and doesn't care of who's feelings she hurts. The emotion she shows in this character is incredible. She would be the meanest person in the room verbally abusing her daughter and then the next moment she could break your heart with the look in her eyes and voice. You felt this sympathy towards her and she makes you feel these emotions not many actresses can get the audience emotionally wrapped up in it. Only really talented actresses can do that and Jessica shows a excellent example in this fantastic Emmy winning performance. Along with her great dialogue Jessica fully inhabited the character and she made you believe she was Fiona. Overall a Jaw dropping performance by Jessica!

Kathy Bates : Kathy delivers her best performance in years! Kathy is a Oscar winning actress who won a Oscar for a horror film called Misery. So if she could wow the Academy enough to win a Academy Award for her performance. We know that she can channel that dark side of her but we haven't seen it until now and it's great to see her show that dark disturbing side of her once again. She plays a strong supporting role and when she's onscreen she brings such energy and charisma to the scene. The way she spoke everything she just became this intriguing dark figure. The emotions all range given in this performance was terrific she just went deep with her character and delivered a terrifying performance. One minute she'll be the most scariest person onscreen the next she'll have that light and happiness in her. So we got to see many sides of Kathy which was great her performance was one of the best performances ever given on the show.

Emma Roberts : A great turn for Emma! Emma's given us teen pop movies so we haven't really seen her do any serious dramatic work since her small role in Blow. And it's great to see her transform and play this very dramatic role. I thought she was simply fantastic she just channeled that negative energy  to her character. Cause Emma's always the happy character but in this it's completely the opposite she plays a emotionless mean person.  And what a performance when she was onscreen she would be flirting, whining or insulting everyone in the room. And then she can go serious within a matter of seconds. And I find that fantastic cause Emma's showing us theirs sides to her we haven't seen before and she can play them very well cause she shines through in this wonderful scene stealing performance.

Ryan Murphy  & Brad Falchuk : Another great season thanks to these two! Ryan&Brad just took the magical aspect along with witches and then mixed horror with it and came out with a excellent result. They blended a perfect mixture of magic and horror while keeping the dark tone of the show. Along with great performances from the cast and well written dialogue. They showed us why we fell in love with this show giving us some surprises, scan scenes and great performances. Ryan&Brad have outdone themselves truly amazing direction

The Lighting : It was dark gritty and grey it was brilliant. The tone of the show is very dark and they don't loose sight of that and they put the right dose of it in I love it. It suited the scenes perfectly great job guys.

The Cinematography : nothing worth mentioning

The Soundtrack : The track Seven Wonders by legendary Stevie Nicks fitted the season so well along with another great track Rhiannon. This season has some great music I loved it.
