Movie Review : Spy
Spy
This film surprised me! Since Melissa's huge flop Tammy that came out I said she's been beating the drum of comedic roles way to much. If this film sucked I wouldn't of seen another film of hers ever again and thankfully I was wrong. She had some tricks up her sleeve I didn't expect which is what I missed seeing from Melissa. The humour wasn't forced it came naturally which is what made it hilarious along with a great cast this film is like James Bond seasoned with Get Smart sprayed with a bit of the style of the Pink Panther and delivered a fantastic result. This film is one of the funniest films I have seen all year.
A CIA analyst is thrown in the field when one of the agency's top agents repertory gets killed the analyst goes in the field not having any experience to save the world I prevent terrorist from setting off a nuclear bomb
Rated R : language throughout, violence, and some sexual content, including brief graphic sexual content,
Melissa McCarthy : Gives a entertaining hilarious comedic performance! Walking into this film I was concerned McCarthy wouldn't push herself and be funny like she was in Bridesmaids and the Heat. But she did she showed you she still make you laugh she made some comments that made me laugh so hard I started to cry. I haven't laughed like that in a long time and that's what I loved about her in this film you wouldn't expect what she would say or do next which is what I always want to see from her. She has a real gift for humour and can show it onscreen brilliantly. In this film she plays this very quiet by the book kind of character who's never had any experience in the field and the way she plays that is hilarious. Because she's not being a badass character she's playing the straight character the serious character and that's when the comedy comes across best because ashes not trying to make you laugh it just comes naturally. She reminded me a lot of Peter Sellers legendary character in the Pink Panther that's the type of character she portrays which I loved watching it was incredibly entertaining. Melissa has redeemed herself for me I will watch her future films without hesitation because she showed she can deliver a great comedic performance. Overall I loved her in this film one of her funniest performances.
Peter Serafinowicz : Peter stole the screen whenever he was onscreen! Before watching this film I have heard of the actor but not seen much of his films. After seeing this film he needs to do more comedy's and I'll for sure check out his future projects. He plays this hilarious comedic figure in the film he has this accent and just the way he plays his character with this hilarious style to it was side splitting funny. Every line he said was funny you couldn't take his character serious for one minute. He played it so well the way he spoke looked was perfect one of the funniest supporting characters I've seen since Robert Downey's performance in Tropic Thunder. Whenever he wasn't onscreen you missed him because he brought this screen presence that was brilliant. Overall Peter being in this film made it 20 times better his performance was outstanding.
Jason Statham : Jason is brilliant in comedic roles surprisingly! We are so used to seeing Jason is these intense explosive action films. He always plays the serious role and violent figure in films such as Furious 7. But we've never seen him play in a comedic film and what he brought to this character in the film was hilarious. It seemed like he was making fun of all of his past characters in films he's played because the character he plays throughout the entire film explains to Melissa how tough he is. Which I thought was perfect for Jason and every line he says he plays It serious but is funny which makes it even more hilarious. You couldn't take his character serious for one minute it was great to see a different side of Jason were not used to seeing before it was refreshing.
Paul Feig : Paul is one of the best comedic directors in Hollywood! Paul knows how to entertain the audience and find their funny bone and make them laugh bringing it in a refreshing way every time. Which is what he dose once again in this film. He executed a intriguing and fast paced plot-line along with great character development and enough funny moments to keep you laughing all the way through. Theirs no other director who can juggle all that and make a beautiful end result like Paul in a comedic film at least. Overall another great directed film by Paul once again.
The Lighting : incredibly bright and colourful! The film moves at a fast pace and doesn't slow down for one minute so it's always changing. Plus it's also a comedy film so it shows different shades of colours which I liked they didn't stick to one they tried a variety of different tones. Which is what made the picture really pop out I enjoyed it great job guys.
The Cinematography : some worth mentioning shots! Their is one fight sequence that is in the film I won't give any away let's just say it is very well choreographed and well filmed made you feel like you were in the middle of the action.
The Soundtrack : Great song choices to fit in this marvellous film. Theirs a song in the beginning of the film called "Who Can You Trust" the song had this feel to the picture that made it seem like a Bond theme song in so many ways. Which is excellent cause that's one of the many themes their trying to resemblance. Theirs so many other great songs I highly recommend you purchase this soundtrack on iTunes.
