Movie Review : The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
This film is a modern day masterpiece! The the tone is so dark and gritty and I love it along with Oscar worthy performances from Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. This film delivers on all levels along with a spectacular score from the genius collaborators Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. On top of that Fincher brings his original style to the film which results in a brilliant outcome. This film isn't just one of the best films I've ever seen its one of the most memorable pieces of film since Fight Club.

Journalist Mikael Blomkvist is asked to look into a mystery  that hasn't been solved for forty years. Along with a incredibly smart assistant Lisbeth Salander

Rated R : for brutal violent content including rape and torture, strong sexuality, graphic nudity, and language

Rooney Mara : Mara delivers a incredible performance showing us she is a force to be reckoned with! By this point I haven't seen much of her work except for her character role in The Social Network. I never really got to see her acting potential and what she's able to achieve onscreen. After seeing her performance in this I'll watch every film she dose because this is her best performance to date. She plays such a dark quiet and disturbed person in the film and the way she showed it onscreen was amazing. When you saw her onscreen you couldn't take your eyes off her because their was a energy that surged through her that you couldn't ignore. The way she delivered her lines to her very well detailed and well put costume it was all great. The way she was able to express her emotions in a particular scene and just push it to unbelievable boundaries like one minute she'll be calm and quiet the next she's screaming her head off crying in pain. It's because what she was able to do that was so incredible was when she played one of those emotions she would go deep and get fully wrapped in the scene and you would believe she was feeling that specific way in that scene because she made it so convincing. Her performance should of won the Oscar for best actress I'm glad she got the recognition for the film but when you watch it you'll agree to why didn't she win she was amazing in this film she deserved it. Overall a outstanding performance by Mara.

Daniel Craig : A surprisingly rich performance by Daniel! By this point in his career Daniel was well known as James Bond and it's incredibly difficult to do another movie and not see them as that character. But what Daniel dose in this film that's so great is he's able to get you to forget about him playing that iconic character and just focus on the character he's playing in this film. His character is a journalist who investigates a mystery and the way Daniel played that onscreen was brilliant. He brought a raw emotion ability that was compelling. We got to see a different side of Daniels emotional range and acting range as well. Which is very refreshing we got to see him be happy, scared and mad as hell and play all those emotions to the point you believed Daniels character meant what he was saying because he was that good at convincing the audience when he was onscreen. Along with just escaping into the character and showing different components and sides of this interesting figure was great. He delivered a Oscar worthy performance he should do more drama films like this because he's incredibly strong in this genre and I would love to see him in more of them. Overall a outstanding performance by Daniel

David Fincher : David will go down in cinema as one of the most original unique and astonishing filmmakers to ever of lived! The way he shows the audience something new and the way he tells the story with his style of it is so entertaining and that's exactly what he dose once again in this film. He's done films with dark tones before in films like Fight Club,Se7en and Zodiac. But In this film he went darker more then ever showing how brutal and bad this young woman's life also showing the mysterious component in it to that made it even more intriguing. He pushes his actors past boundaries to get Oscar caliber performances and that's what he showed again with his cast. The style and originality he brought once again to this film was fantastic it was so dark but yet so entertaining. From the great locations to the breathtaking cinematography theirs no other director who could of accomplished all of this pure brilliance onscreen like David. Another phenomenal masterpiece by David once again.

The Lighting : It was fantastic fit the frame and mood of the picture perfectly! The films tones are very gritty and dark and the films lighting tones brought that layer to the film that expressed it very well. It had this chilling feel to the bones at times and not many lighting tones can achieve that it just was perfect for this film I loved it great job guys.

The Cinematography : One of the best shot films I've seen in a long time! Jeff Cronenweth is a genius who has the ability to amaze the eyes. Not many great cinematographers are still out their that can film and capture outstanding shots that leave you dazzled. Jeff achieves it every time and I don't know how he dose it because in this film he has great shots such as Mara riding her motorcycle. I know what your thinking simple shot but that's the thing he was able to take that one simple scene and make it big and breathtaking. Theirs so many other shots in this film he did I think he deserved the Oscar for the phenomenal cinematography in this film it was outstanding.
Great job Jeff.

The Score :  Trent Reznor And Atticus Ross achieve excellence once again! These two are the best modern day  composers out their working today. They have made pitch perfect scores going from the outstanding work they did in the Social Network to Gone Girl these two collaborators are a force to be reckoned with. What makes them so unique and talented is their able to bring these different variety of sounds and clash them together and make something truly beautiful. Their sounds are so well composed and it just express the film on a whole different level. That's what they were able to do again in this film. They can express and tell you what the mood of the scene is going in and they express it in the music so you can grip a better understanding of the scene and it was amazing. Overall these two deliver another beautiful piece of music.
