Television Review : True Detective

True Detective
This  is one of the most refreshing thrilling and entertaining shows I have seen in a long time. The performances by Matthew&Woody is outstanding along with a compelling storyline and extremely well written dialogue. A near perfect show.

Rust Cohle and Marty Hart are paired up to investigate a strange murder.

Rated 18A : Disturbing images, sexual content and nudity, pervasive language

Matthew McConaughey : Matthew blows this performance out of the water! Matthew has shown us recently he's been able to execute serious roles very well in his Oscar winning performance in Dallas Buyers Club to films like Mud. So when I heard he was starring in this show I was quite excited because I know he's incredibly strong in this kind of genre. And he delivers it on an amazing scale the way he delivers every single line you believe that Matthew knows what he's talking about and is very passionate about that certain topic. He just brought this certain type of style to the character that was so interesting you can't take your eyes off him you want to find out what's going to happen to him next. Matthew just became this role and got inside the mind of Rust which is great he was in every moment and always delivered. Along with his excellent performance he's able to provide electrifying chemistry with Woody onscreen. The connection seemed so real it seems so natural. Overall another fantastic performance by Matthew once again.

Woody Harrelson : An all around entertaining performance! Woody is phenomenal in the role as Marty in this show. He's also great in dramas such as Game Change, The Messenger etc. The way he was able to slip into the skin of this man was great. The way he expressed the frustration And all these other emotions in this character was fantastic. Woody doesn't do much dramas he should go back to them if he gives performances like this on a regular basis he will win a Oscar in no time. Overall an entertaining performance by Woody once again.

Nic Pizzolatto : Nic is a sheer genius he's able to create a mesmerizing universe along with captivating characters and incredibly well written dialogue. You have two great actors delivering Primetime winning performances onscreen what more do you want from two great actors? he also was able to keep the balance because Matthew is more of the darker character and Woody is the lighter more stable character which I thought why this show worked so well. And just able to have so much fed into the show with a intriguing hook to the show that once you start watching you can't stop because you become invested in it. Overall one of the greatest shows ever captured on film.

Lighting : Very dark and error it fits the frame and storyline very well. The show is very gritty and dark and it's a serious crime show so what the show is the darkness that lurks within the show. And it's great because it's able to set the mood right for every scene overall brilliant job guys.

The Cinematography : Some worth mentioning shots when Matthew is getting out of bed and you see the cross above his bed and his head slowly rise it was just outstanding every angle of the show was flawless. Loved every bit of it great job guys.

The Score : Very slow speaks volumes. The great power of the music in the show is it's also able to express a particular moment in the scene or a characters emotion of what their trying to convey very well. It seems creepy at times which was great they were able to change it a bit which is refreshing loved it.
