Movie Review : Warrior

Warrior
This film is outstanding! From the intense MMA fights to the great performances provided from Hardy, Joel and Nick makes this film the best film of 2011. Their has been many wrestling and boxing films like Raging Bull, Rocky and so many more but what this film separates from the rest of those films is the authenticity and realism the film sets it in along with great performances.

Tommy a man who's not doing much since he was in the marines goes back to the gym to start fighting again then when he gets caught on video in a fight at the gym it makes him a over night sensation. Brendan a family man who has 3 jobs and is trying to stay afloat but when he has money troubles he goes back to wrestling to get the money to provide for his family. Which brother will come out on top?

Rated : PG-13 for sequences of intense mixed martial arts fighting, some language and thematic material

Tom Hardy : Delivers a emotional and entertaining performance! Tom Hardy shows a side we haven't seen before in this film that was so different and refreshing. Tom Hardy is fantastic at playing different roles and escaping under the skin of each role he plays. But this time he plays a person who doesn't speak much and his emotion hurt and pain speaks volumes. When he spoke he would be very defensive because his character had been through a lot and is very closed up and Tom executed that onscreen perfectly. You would believe what he said through his dialogue he meant it. The chemistry he had onscreen with Nick&Joel was fantastic the connection between them seemed so real. Overall loved Tom's performance another outstanding performance by Hardy once again.

Joel Edgerton : Joel gives the best performance out of the entire cast of the film! He delivers this emotional performance that is compelling and well acted. Before  seeing this film I only saw him in Zero Dark thirty and The Great Gatsby. So I saw some of his dramatic acting but nothing compared like this. In this film he plays a father who's struggling with money issues and just the stress of that and his father and you could truly see through his emotion and line delivery he was in Every moment giving 100% to this performance. He could be sweet and kind in one scene and then completely break your heart when he's onscreen with Nick Nolte. So he was able to channel different emotions and make them believable overall Joel fantastic performance Golden Globe worthy.

Nick Nolte : A heartbreaking performance by the great Nick Nolte! I haven't by this point seen much of Nick's films so when I saw this performance he gives I was surprised he was able the kind of heartbreaking character and make it seem realistic onscreen. Just the way he presented himself on the screen with his line delivery. He well deserved that Oscar nomination for this film. Overall a intense emotional performance.

Gavin O' Connor : Gary is a genius! Before watching this film I haven't even heard of thud filmmaker. But after seeing this film I will watch all of his future projects. The way he was able to execute the film and show the realistic view of Martial Arts was fantastic. He didn't go the cheap route and make it look fake he invested himself in the project and actually trained the actors to do the moves in the film to make it more real and intense. Which brings another layer of greatness to the screen. Along with great onscreen chemistry and dialogue he did a great job at directing this film. Great job Gavin.

The Lighting : It was wonderful it was kind of dark and gritty throughout and the way it helped express the emotions in that moment was outstanding. Great choices of tines for this film Great job guys.

The Cinematography : Some great shots! When Their in the ring hashing it out the intensity and just sheer hurt is unbelievable of how amazing the angles put themselves so you felt like you hit a front row seat and was like you were their. Overall great shots.

The Score : Very big and not loud but just beautiful. The music was very well chosen for this film it would be quiet then at the moments of joy the music would express it I loved it.
