Movie Review : The Godfather
The Godfather
This film is a milestone in the art of filmmaking! Marlon Brando&Al Pacino give one of the best performances ever seen. To Francis Ford Coppola's excellent directing mixing the drama and crime aspect of the film and coming out with a beautiful finished product. Why this film has stood the test of time is because This is the greatest film of all time.
A kingpin of a crime filled empire passes his position and responsibilities to his son.
Rated R : Strong violence throughout language, and nudity
Marlon Brando : Brando gives the best lead performance of all time! Brando is considered one if the best actors to ever of lived and this performance shows you how he earned that title. He gave a terrific Oscar winning performance in 1954's classic On The Waterfront and I thought he wouldn't be able to top that performance. But the thing that I love about Brando is he also makes the next performances dose better then the last one. In this film he was unrecognizable with the phenomenal makeup and tone of his voice made for such a entertaining performance. When he appeared in a scene you couldn't take your eyes of him. He slipped himself in the skin of this character. His emotional drive was simply fantastic. It was I want to pass my business to my son and I want him to be as good as I was. The way he showed that onscreen was outstanding. The chemistry he has onscreen with Pacino was electrifying. Overall Brando gives the performance of the ages.
Al Pacino : Pacino performance is truly the greatest breakout performance I've ever seen! This film launched Pacino to superstardom. Before the Godfather he wasn't that well known he got noticed by Francis from his performance in Panic In Needle Park. He showed in this film how he is dedicates himself to his craft and loves the art of acting. Pacino delivered a truly great supporting performance. When he was electrifying onscreen portraying this wonderful character. His emotional motive of the film was great. It was basically I want to be part of the business but it's a deadly one and sometimes you have to deal with things without making them personal. The way he shows that onscreen was fantastic. We got to see different layers of Pacino's character and acting range which was outstanding. When he was showing emotions of anger, frustration and curiosity. Pacino put a part of himself in this character expressing his real emotions. The way he looked and spoke he slipped into this characters performance which made for a more convincing and entertaining performance. Overall this performance shows Pacino delivers a flawless performance!
Francis Ford Coppola : Truly one of the most genius filmmakers of all time! What Francis shows in this timeless classic is great character development a intruding story powerhouse performances from Pacino&Brando. He had great casting choices beautiful locations for the film and a wonderful score. He demonstrated great storytelling. He would have a emotional scene then a violent scene theirs never a dull moment in this film. He gave each actor time to shine through in a scene with their great acting range. Francis deserved all the award recognition he got for this film. He made this film the masterpiece it is.
The Lighting : Great lighting choices for the tone of this film. It had this darkish tone to the film that fit the picture perfectly. It would express the scene perfectly and describe the tone of the moment. Great job guys.
The Cinematography : Truly fantastic camerawork. The shots used in this film was very entertaining. The camera would put you in the middle of the dramatic and action sequences which is what made it thrilling. I made you feel like you we're their experiencing it all. Their is a worth mentioning shot in the beginning of the film. Where they pan around Brando and bring the camera around what they did that was fantastic is they experimented with the camera trying new kind of shots. I loved it great job guys.
The Score : Nino Rota created one of the most beautiful film scores I have ever heard. The beautiful sounds expressed in this film was great. The way it could express a scene and the characters emotion was outstanding. This score for the film perfectly a true masterpiece.
