Movie Review : Gone Girl
Gone Girl
This film was an outstanding! The entertaining performances from Ben Affleck&Rosamund Pike. The pitch perfect direction from Fincher was genius. This is the best crime film since collateral.
Nick Dunne's wife disappears everyone is looking for her and the question is did nick kill his wife?
Rated R : a scene of bloody violence strong sexual content/ Nudity & language
Ben Affleck : gives one of his best performances in years! Ben has delivered some fantastic performances such as his performance as Tony Mendez in Argo or as Doug MacRay in The Town. But in this film he brings his acting skills to a whole new level. When he was emotional Ben got it to be real he didn't just read the character off the script those emotions he didn't fake. He brought his own emotions into the film so when Nick got mad or happy tines were his real emotions which makes for a more convincing and entertaining performance. Overall Affleck once again delivers another fantastic performance.
Rosamund Pike : gives one of the best lead actress performances I have seen in years! What Rosamund delivers onscreen was electrifying the way she goes from smiling and innocent then go to raging psychopath. And she was brilliant at transitioning from those two characteristics and the way she was also able to grab your attention with her emotional drive was great. She could be yelling or getting mad at Nick in one scene and she'll make you feel sympathy for her then she could go completely dark and sadistic and get you to hate her within seconds. she made her performance so convincing it was electrifying when she was onscreen. I have seen Rosamund in some other films such as Jack Reacher, Die Another Day&The Big year. She plays the good girl the innocent sweet girl role often so when I saw her in this film I was blown away how she was able to tap into her darker side it was outstanding. Theirs no surprise she got nominated at the Oscars for best actress because her performance is brilliant Overall loved her performance.
Carrie Coon : Gives an outstanding Supporting performance! Before seeing this film I have not even heard of this actress. After watching her in this film I will definitely check out her future projects. The chemistry she had with Ben onscreen was so fantastic they got you to believe they were actually brother and sister. The emotional motive she had was I love my brother to death but he needs to tell me did he kill Amy? And the way she portrays that onscreen was simply amazing. She captivated you with her great acting range and emotion she deserved a Oscar nomination for best supporting actress. Overall a phenomenal performance!
David Fincher : David has outdone himself! When I saw The Social Network I thought David wouldn't be able to achieve another film better then It but I was wrong. David raises the bar with Gone Girl delivering a intriguing story wonderful characters and a beautiful score. He got great performances out of his actors he chose great locations for this film it all fell into place perfectly. When you watch a Fincher film you know your going to be entertained he is very much like Hitchcock in ways he brings that Mystery and intrigue to the picture he always brings something new and fresh every time. Fincher deserved the Oscar nomination for best director at the Oscars for this. He got you invested in the characters and the story. Overall another masterpiece by Fincher again.
The Lighting : It was very well chosen for this film. Since the story is quiet dark they had a dark tone to the picture which was perfectly chosen for the film. It had this greyish dark tone to it that made it feel disturbingly dark and serious. Outstanding job guys.
The Cinematography : some worth mentioning shots. In the beginning of the film when the credits are rolling and the angles they chose to show before the film started was very well done. How it was quiet and just showing shots of different places around the town. Great camerawork.
The Score : Trent Reznor&Atticus Ross create another beautiful masterpiece once again! These composers did the phenomenally perfect score for the Social Network which won them the Oscar. So once again they create another beautiful score but this time it feels more quiet and eerie which Is great. It did an amazing job at expressing the characters emotions in the scene or just explaining a scene in the movie when the actors didn't have words to describe the moment the music would express it which I loved. It was very well composed and deserved the Oscar nomination. Overall another beautiful score by Trent&Atticus.
