Movie Review : Secret Window

Secret Window
This film was an outstanding piece of film! The intriguing story and wonderful performance by Johnny Depp& John Turturro. This film has great preformances, gripping suspense& Drama it has everything you want in a film.
A  strange man comes to a  famous authors doorstep and accuses him of plagiarism and will not leave him alone until he admits he stole his story.
Rated 14A : Disturbing images , some language & some violence
Johnny Depp : Johnny gave a wonderful performance. It was very refreshing to see Depp give a intense performance and to tap into his dark side. When he was onscreen he would captivate you with his great emotion and very well written dialogue this film has a dark tone to the picture and for the audience to believe that it is you need a great performance from the cast and great direction from the director which this film delivers. Depp has done different roles in his career which is great he has done roles like the crime thriller Donnie Brasco the Bio pic drama Blow to films like Alice in Wonderland he doesn’t stick to one genre he expands his acting abilities by playing different roles and I think this performance he shows in this film really shines. Depp expresses his emotion onscreen brilliantly because he got underneath the skin of this very interesting character and when his character expressed emotions of anger Depp would make you believe it because when he plays any role he brings his real emotion in the character and that’s what makes for an entertaining and more convening performance that’s what  he shows onscreen  again in this performance.  When he was in a scene with his Co-star John Turturro the acting vibes would just generate so naturally it was great. Overall Depp delivers another fantastic performance once again.
John Turturro : John gave one of the  best Supporting Performances of 04!  When he was onscreen his voice was unrecognizable he just got underneath the skin of the character. His character he portrays in the film is disturbed and to get what he wants he will do anything  which I thought John showed onscreen very well. For any movie you need a great villain if you don’t have that  the film wont entertain you or get you invested in the wonderful characters. Which this film has is a great villain he would show up in bits of the film but not that much which I liked because the film is driven by Depp’s character so you would see little hints or marks that John’s character has sent a message for Depp’s character. Overall loved John’s performance.
David Koepp :  He gave  extraordinary direction on this picture!  He got great performances out of his actors he was great at telling this intriguing story and kept you interested from when the film starts till the credits roll. He chose great locations to fit the story the music was great everything fell into place perfectly. He did a great  job at making you jump at times and getting the audience  to try to  figure out what the ending of the film is going to be but then it turns out to be something completely different.  He got you so wrapped up in the story and with the characters you cant take your eyes off the screen until the very end of the film. He is great at directing psychological thrillers he should definitely do more in the future. Overall fantastic direction.
The Lighting : The tone of this film is dark so the picture is very greyish and doesn’t have that many different colors it was also great at expressing the characters emotion through the lighting  it fit the film perfectly. When the lighting and the music was put together in the finished product it was great it made you think in every seen what’s going to happen  next Great job guys.
The Cinematography : It was great at making you feel that you were with Depp’s character from start to finish and experiencing the emotion that he was feeling  I thought that was great. It used a few angles technique I haven’t seen before that was refreshing like When Depp is looking in the mirror that was outstanding or the opening sequence of the film. I loved how the camera work played as a character in the film.
