Movie Review : The Truman Show

The Truman Show
This film is one of the most refreshing films I have seen in a long time. The brilliant performances in this film are driven by comedic genius Jim Carrey and legendary actor Ed Harris. This film is highly entertaining

A man named Truman  discovers  that his entire life is a television show

Rated PG : Thematic elements & Mild Language

Jim Carrey : Jim steps out of his comfort zone. Im so used to seeing Jim in all those comedic roles like Liar Liar, The Mask, Dumb & Dumber. So when I saw him in this film he blew me away with his excellent dramatic acting abilities. The emotion he delivers onscreen is what is going on? The way he shows it it is so convincing it makes for a more believable and realistic performance. This performance was defiantly Oscar worthy. Overall he gave an outstanding performance.

Ed Harris : He delivers once again another fantastic performance. In this film he shows his great acting abilities through emotion and dialogue. When he's onscreen he makes the most of it he puts his sweat and tears into this performance. He just consumed the character which was fantastic. Theirs no surprise that he got a Oscar nomination for this performance. Once again another great performance from Harris.

Peter Weir : He is an genius! This  film is the most original and unique film I have seen since Inception. He got great performances out from his actors an intriguing story and a wonderful score. He just got you so wrapped up into this film that you feel emotion for these characters and by the end of the film are crying. From the costume's to the lighting style everything fell into place perfectly. He deserved the best director Oscar. Outstanding direction.

The Lighting : This style of lighting they used for this film was brilliant. It was bright but not to bright it just has this Hollywood feel to the picture which makes the scenes just come alive. Great job guys.

The Cinematography : nothing worth mentioning

The Score : The music for this film was amazing. It would be very upbeat and happy then go to real emotion and it would be more low key. They knew how to read the emotion of the characters and how they were feeling in that moment so they would use the music to express it.  The music is just beautifully composed defiantly Oscar worthy. I loved it.

  1. Hey Movie Man Darian, I couldn't agree more that Carrey has proven that he is capable of more than just comedy. Also a superb performance by Harris. His character is so passionate contradictory and hipocritical that you cant help but love&hate him. I will be keeping an eye on your future posts. It seems we have similar taste in movies.
