Movie Review : Psycho

Psycho
This movie is truly one of the greatest pictures ever! The brilliant direction by legendary director Alfred Hitchcock . With a great cast Janet Leigh &  Anthony Perkins . An amazing original chilling story. What's not to like?

A Secretary steals $40,000 from one of her employer's Client. She goes on the run and checks into a motel. Run by a young man under the domination of his mother .

Rated 14A : for disturbing violent content, some sensuality and brief partial nudity

Janet Leigh : She gave one of the most memorable performances I have seen!  The screen time she shared with Perkins was great chemistry . The emotion that came across her face was great . Which earned her a Golden Globe for her performance
. Great Job!

Anthony Perkins : He delivered one of the best supporting performances of cinematic history! Perkins performance as the psychotic Norman Bates was a perfect performance . Some horror movies put makeup on their faces to try to scare you . All what Perkins did was wear a suit and put a smile on his face to strike fear in your heart for the rest of your life. He became this role he slept and ate this character . His character is one of the most memorable characters in Hollywood history. The thing that made the character so creepy was when he murdered  someone he wouldn't even know he was doing it. If someone told him about it he would say your making this up that's truly scary . This role was truly one of the greats and still is today. The Oscars snubbed this brilliant performance and I won't ever forgive them for ignoring one of the best performances of all time . Great performance it was truly amazing .

Alfred Hitchcock : This film earned him the nickname "the master of  suspense " and for good reason . Not long before this film was released  he had already made such classics such as Vertigo , North By Northwest, Rebecca . So when this film rolled into theatres many people were hoping it would be better then Hitchcock's last picture and this film definitely raised the bar on suspense /thriller/ horror/ drama films. This film definitely in my opinion is Hitchcock's best picture he ever put on film . The directing he did on this film cannot be compared to any other director. He didn't make up the suspense he create's it in yourself so you makes you guess throughout the film of what's going to happen next. But you don't know of what's going to happen next because he surprises you every single time . Which is brilliant for a director to do is to make you believe that you think you know how the story is going to end. But in the long run the director has outsmarted you and the story takes a huge turn for a big surprise you never thought would happen. This directing was pure genius he will go down as one of the best directors to ever direct a motion picture . His films will live on forever . This film earned him a Oscar nomination for best director and well deserved it but the Oscars snubbed him . I will never understand why he didn't win for best director but that's another story. Great directing Alfred !

The Lighting : it was brilliant by the time the film went into production colour was being used in films . But Hitchcock was a genius and wanted it to be in black I. White . So that it would be more suspenseful and give a more creepier setting to the picture . Brilliant job well done !

The cinematography : How they shot the famous shower scene was brilliant the angles they used in that one scene was amazing I loved it! Great job !

The Score : The score was so well done the creepiness and suspense the music brought to the picture was perfect for the film . Definitely Oscar worthy. Loved it!
