Movie Review : Bates Motel Season 5
Bates Motel Season 5
After Norma's death Norman tries to cope and deal with her passing but he can't face she's gone and his sense of reality is slipping and the madness is calling to him. The bodies are being found and Norman is becoming more and more boxed into a corner will he make it out of this madness to the very end or will his madness be the end of him?
Bates Motel is officially closed. The Hitchcock prequel has come to a close and wow what a wild ride and I have to say that the fifth season was the best season of the series. Packing the episodes with great suspense, scares, surprises and twist you don't see coming. I have said in basically every review that Highmore delivered the best portrayal of Norman but this season you can quote me Freddie Highmore gives the best portrayal of Norman in the final season he was electric. As well as Vera Farmiga gives a truly amazing performance as Norma and Nestor Carbonell and Max Thieriot delivers incredible Supporting performances in this show as well. The fifth and final season of Bates Motel was by far the best and a perfect ending to a fantastic series.
Rated 14A : bloody violence, disturbing images, language,
Freddie Highmore : Highmore delivers an emotional gut wrenching performance that is the best performance he's given on the show by far in this final season and as well delivers his best work ever on camera. Freddie Highmore has been impressing me since day one of the show and since then he's raised the bar every time going further and further giving every once of his acting abilities onscreen to portrayal this iconic character right. Not only dose he do that extremely well but he has truly outdone himself again giving the best and greatest final performance as Norman in the last season. Freddie dazzled in this season with Norma gone Norman taps into both personalities he's Norma and Norman and he's ultimately playing two people and that takes a lot of talent to be able to pull that off. The way Freddie did that was incredible to see onscreen. He really exposed himself emotionally in this season making me cry I'll admit I cried but that's how much he moved me with his work he just was committed to every frame giving his absolute all. Their are so many scenes he just broke my heart when he's lying on the cold ground saying mother am I still dreaming just the tone in his voice and the sadness soaking through his eyes and the sheer emotion he captured was emotionally gutting. He truly amazed me in this season like theirs a scene where he's sweating and is in the house saying mother you were right and his voice is shaky and you believe Freddie you buy into his performance. He has never been so real onscreen like he has on this show especially this season. His work in this is so genuine theirs no flaw in his performance he became this character soaking up every bit of Norman to the point when I am watching I don't see Freddie Highmore onscreen I see Norman and that's fantastic he makes you forget it's him and all you see is the character up onscreen. Freddie gave a layered and emotionally painful performance that was amazing to see in this season he plays a tortured soul in this season and it's fantastic to see him go to such lengths to give his all in this last season. If the Emmys don't recognize Highmore's work in this season I will never watch the Emmy's again because he deserves it. Overall to sum it all up Highmore gave his absolute greatest performance in this series and in this season Anthony Perkins would be proud Highmore delivered a emotional, dark performance that is one of the greatest performances ever in the history of entertainment and television.
Vera Farmiga : Vera delivers her best work in the fifth and final season of this fantastic series! Vera has given amazing work in her films such as up in the air, the departed and the conjuring. But her work in this show I would say is her best because she delivers a truly brilliant performance in this season and in the show in general. In this season we know Norma is dead but she's very much alive in Normans head and the way she was able to capture this mother who's in pain and at the same time also plays this gentle performance helping Norman but not always with the best intentions. She just glowed in this season and really captures a truly phenomenal performance. She gives her all in this final season making me cry and laugh she just was at her best in this season. She deserves to be recognized by the Emmys for her work in this season and if she isn't I won't watch the Emmys ever again. Overall Vera gives her best work in this series and is one of the best performances from an actress in the history of television.
Nestor Carbonell : Nestor Gave his best outing as Sheriff Romero in this season truly giving his all in every scene really shining onscreen. In the last scene he really impressed me with his ability to showcase his raw emotion and he dose so again in this season but he really brings it out front and shows the pain through his eyes and in his voice brining a real and genuine performance that is emotionally gutting and extraordinary to witness him do onscreen. I think his work in this season was his best performance in the series he gave a phenomenal supporting performance showing layers and sides of himself we haven't seen him tap into before making for a truly captivating performance that shouldn't go unnoticed he was a force to be reckoned with and everyone should take notice of his great work in the final season of this great show. Overall a truly spectacular supporting performance that will be remembered as one of the best supporting Performances to ever be shown on television.
Max Thieriot : Max have his best outing as Dylan in the final season! Max through the series has done great work up to the end of the forth season he really started to push himself and go the extra mile to give a truly fantastic supporting performance. In this season he truly shows his range as an actor and shows us his raw emotional talent and wow he's brilliant. Dylan is a character we have learned isn't really a emotional character he's more of a tough guy so we have never seen him break down into tears and he dose just that in this season and Max makes that character ark so well. He opens up so much holding nothing back showing just how upset he was and how through everything still loves his brother and in the season finale he has this speech that hit me in the heart because when he spoke it he made it feel so real and genuine he moved me to tears in that scene and his work in this season. Max just had this stress that his brother is a killer he knows that but he finds any reason to hold onto to him to keep loving him and being Their for his brother. The way Max did that was just heartbreaking he just showcased a fantastic supporting performance and overall gave the best work of his career in this show and especially in this season.
Carlton Cuse & Kerry Ehrin : These two visionaries have crafted a masterful show that had one of the best final seasons I've ever seen. These two have put such a well done last season packing it full of twist, outstanding performances from the entire cast and surprising the audience with situations they never saw coming. They just nailed this season with truly genius storytelling and sharp writing. The ability for them to tie up all close ends with every character was well down and I was satisfied with how they did it. At the same time going darker and really giving a well done conclusion to the story that we first saw five years ago. As well they did a fantastic job at using past events and tying them in perfectly to the plot line of the trial shown in the fifth season. Overall they did a brilliant job at giving a satisfying ending and giving us the best farewell to this show giving us a dark shocking well acted finale and these two visionaries have outdone themselves once again. Thank you guys for crafting a great show that we got to check into for five years your direction and vision was amazing to see put onscreen.
The Lighting : the tones of colours splashed onscreen was beautifully well done. They use of dark blue and black brought this errie grim feel to the frame that really fit the frame perfectly working so well with the environment and plot that it was immersed in. I loved the Lighting used throughout the final season it just really stuck out to me in the best way great job guys.
The Cinematography : The camera work was well done! Their are many great shots but one that really stood out was chick is standing in the lake as something is going further in the water set on fire and the overhead shot captured it perfectly. The Camera just knew how to describe and get the beats of the scene captured perfectly through the movements of the lens great job guys.
The Score : The Music was haunting! The Score done in the final season was truly chilling it just really had this perfect melody of getting into your bones and getting you to feel emotionally from the way the music was expressed onscreen. It was incredibly well composed and worth a listen great job guys.

Television Review : Bates Motel Season 4
Bates Motel Season 4
This is the best season yet! The performances from Vera Farmiga and Freddie Highmore are spectacular. Along with the great intensity and scares this one brings that had not in previous seasons. Everyone in this season stepped up Their game in their performance and it's amazing to watch. Bates Motel season four is masterful storytelling.
In this season Norman not only becomes a dangers to others but himself and Norma is putting up barriers to try to distance herself from him so she submits him to a mental institution but Norman has darker plans in his head for when he gets out
Rated 14A : Subject matter, violence throughout and disturbing images
Freddie Highmore : Freddie Highmore delivers the best performance he's ever given of Norman in this season but one of his finest performances ever with his work in this season! Freddie has been giving great performance after another in every season of this fantastic show. But what Highmore did in this season he went to a place I haven't seen before and it is outstanding to watch him explore the different depths as an actor. He brings that charm and innocence to the screen but at flick of a switch can go really dark and be truly terrifying. But what really stood out we're two scenes one being a scene when he's in a therapist office and the therapist asked if he could talk to mother and Highmore turns his head and brings it back and changes the tone in his voice and becomes mother or at least what Norman thinks is mother. It's so creepy and chilling the scenes of him with his therapist were incredible to watch. As well a scene at the end of the last episode where he has desperation in his eyes and his voice is full of sadness the emotional range he brought to this season was top notch. He really raised the bar on his acting he's so real as this character theirs no part of his performance that is flawed you believe him completely and can't take your eyes off him when he's onscreen. I can't wait to see what he brings to the final season of Bates Motel Overall Highmore delivers one of the best performances I've ever seen.
Vera Farmiga : Vera delivers an outstanding performance in this marvellous show! Vera also gives the best portrayal of Mother in the latest season of this show. Vera brings such heartache and pain to her role as Mother in this season and it's brilliant. Mother is truly terrified of Norman and what he could possibly do and the way Vera approached that emotionally was genius! She is so real and in the moment of every scene giving her absolute all to this character and performance. Her character is so kind and warm hearted but then go dark and scream and the way she delivers the terrifying and emotional aspect in her performance feels like something that is not acted it feels that it's coming from a real place which only makes her performance feel even more genuine. As well the chemistry she has with Freddie onscreen is electric I completely am bought that they are mother and son the get along so well onscreen love their onscreen chemistry. Overall Vera delivers another knockout performance as Norma!
Nestor Carbonell : Nestor is truly outstanding in the latest season of Bates Motel! Nestor in previous seasons has given a good supporting performance to the series but he really shines through in the latest season of the show. He is of course Sheriff Romero and he brought a emotional core performance that should not go unnoticed! Nestor shows incredible range with his character in this season he showscases such great lengths of anger and feeling of loss and sadness and heartbreak. It's amazing because he aren't used to seeing him show those colours in his performance as this character and he dazzles the screen with his incredible talent with his work in this season. Their are a few scenes he has with Norman where it's pure rage and when I watched him it felt like the emotions were coming from a core place that felt very real which made me not want to take my eyes off his performance. Theirs also another scene where he is crying I won't give what happens in the scene but when he is crying you just feel the heartbreak in his voice and tears it's so amazing with what he dose in this season he's truly outstanding in this season. Overall Nestor delivers a truly fantastic supporting performance in this season.
Anthony Cipriano : Antony is a genius storyteller! He has once again knocked it out of the park with his talent of great writing and expanding the story of this great series. He has done a fantastic job at adjusting the tone to go darker each season and it works so well. As well he gets really creepy and it's so well done along with the great performances from the cast. Overall Antony gives once again great writing to the series of his marvellous show.
The Lighting : The tones and style used in the show is fantastic! It goes incredibly dark and creepy and the Lighting isn't afraid to go darker and the colours used working very well. It felt very grey and black and it works so well to fit the frame perfectly overall great lighting.
The Cinematography : The camerawork in this show is incredible! It uses great angles and just their way of expressing the feeling and tone of the show through the lens is brilliant it had well captured shots in this season overall the camerawork in the show is great loved it.
The Score : The music composed for the latest season of Bates Motel is haunting brilliance! The music and sounds used is so creepy and the melody is so perfect for the style of what season 4 brings it is an Incredibly well composed Score loved every minute of it.

Television Review : Bates Motel Season 3
Bates Motel Season 3
Norman Bates has now realized his actions that he's committed and gose to dark places but within that his mother Norma starts to feel afraid of her son and what he's capable of so she builds walls to close herself away from him.
Vera Farmiga : Vera yet again delivers a intense performance as Norma Bates! In past seasons she's been mean to Norman and always yelling in this one he tones it down and you really feel a sense of empathy for her because all she wants is her kid to be safe and loved but he feels afraid of him and Vera plays that so well onscreen. The look in her eyes when she's in a scene with Freddie is fear and vulnerability and it feels so natural and real. But then she'll go from being scared and calm to extreme measures and that switch of emotions she can make at the snap of a finger is amazing. When Vera speaks in a scene her emotion the tone in her voice she fully becomes the character and wraps you up in every scene. She's truly fantastic in this season overall another great performance by Vera.
The best season yet! In this intense drama horror show the cast really have pushed themselves to bring out a convincing and genuine performance that steals the scene. This show has its surprises twist and turns and it is a wicked ride this show is one of the best shows on tv to ever hit the small screen.
Rated 14A : disturbing images, violence and sexual content
Freddie Highmore : Freddie really pushes his performance to places we haven't seen before and it is outstanding. I've said countless times Highmore's performance in the show is extraordinary and he's always amazing us with his great acting as Norman Bates but in this season he's given the best performance of the series! Yea it's that good I didn't think he was capable of bringing his performance to another area of excellence but he has and my god it's so captivating to watch. In the first season he had light side out most and shined a bit of dark then in the second season he started to show more of his grey area but in this one he taps into his dark side he is chilling. When he's onscreen you can't take your eyes off him your just drawn to watching him all the time what Freddie brings to the character in this season is that he is able to make us like him even though he's doing bad acts and that's all from his ability to deliver great emotional range along with understanding his character and he dose it greatly. At times he will be heartbroken and you just want to hug him the next he has that darkness in his eyes that scares you and the way he's able to transition through that while making it feel genuine and real is fantastic. When he speaks in a scene nothing feels dull your one hundred percent invested into his performance and you believe what he says he means it it doesn't feel like he's reading it he is that character he fully commits himself to the character which results in him delivering a electric performance that is truly chilling and captivating. As well The chemistry that Freddie has with Vera onscreen is electric their chemistry is so he genuine you buy into them as mother and son their brilliant onscreen together. Overall Freddie delivers yet again a scene stealing performance as Norman Bates.
Anthony Cipriano : Anthony has outdone himself! He's created a intriguing atmosphere of Bates Motel and this season he dips into the dark depths of it and he isn't afraid to show it. He's done a beautiful transformation with the series showing the first as very bright and colourful and then with season two and three brings it more grey which is great he's staying true to the Psycho fans and Normans Transformation into madness. Along with getting scene stealing performances from his cast as well as giving the audience twist and turns biting your nails wanting to know what is going to happen next. He just keeps building the stakes showing the next one more dangerous then the last one he knows how to build the suspense to get your pulse pounding. He's the best person to helm this outstanding series overall great direction once again.
The Lighting : loving the tones in this season. Like I said throughout the review its more greyish and I love how they bring that aspect in the show. It feels very eerie and intense not knowing what's around the corner that keeps you in the moment of the show. It's perfect tones captures the show and emotion perfectly within every frame great job guys.
The Cinematography : The camerawork used in this show is outstanding and they knock it out of the ballpark again with the great angles. Their ability to look at things from another angle and show something to the naked eye that truly amazes you is what the bring to the table in this season. It just captivates you great job guys.
The Score : The music is so beautiful in the show its ability to capture the sheer emotion and feel of the scene is so important for the composer to express and they do just that making it look effortless. It's beautiful to the ears but also paints the tone of the scene perfectly their is no flaw in this score overall amazing score.
