Ready Or Not

This film was very interesting and I enjoyed it but their were a great deal of issues I had with the film too. This film’s concept was very compelling much like my feeling towards Brightburn where the concept was interesting but the execution of it was poor here the execution was done well to an extent but their are things that could of been tweaked. As they do give some backstory to the whole reasoning to what their doing but the characters though I didn’t feel invested in due to the fact I don’t think they were fleshed our enough. Their were only two characters I only cared for but the rest of the characters I didn’t even though they might have a cool or funny moment since they weren’t written that well I didn’t feel as invested into their motives and it’s unfortunate as the cast here is actually pretty good it’s just the characters they play are poorly written for the exception of some good moments but yea only two characters in this film I invested in which is sad as their is a solid cast here. 

Now the things I enjoyed, The film delivers on the front with big gory action that is very nail biting suspenseful. I stayed away from the trailers for this film and I’m glad I did as it revelled all the cool parts in the trailer and theirs some very well crafted action sequences that will have you on the edge of your seat as the film does a great job at creating and executing the tension and suspense very well. As it all takes place on a single night and the lead actress at the centre of it Samara Weaving gives a badass performance as the first quarter of the film her character doesn’t have a lot of cool moments but she quickly goes from damsel in distress to Kill Bill level Bride and it’s brilliant she was able to show such a diverse amount of layers of character and emotion throughout the film that was so well done onscreen. 

Lastly, Ready Or Not is a film with a cool and interesting concept that is done well but with its share of flaws though it gives a stylish over the top gore flick with a solid lead performance from Samara Weaving. Even though Ready Or Not does stumble at some points it was an overall fun and enjoyable film I do recommend people go check it out. 

This film is about a woman who gets married to the man of her dreams but his family is a little odd but when she finds out on her wedding night in order to be accepted into the family you have to play a game it quickly ends in bloodshed. 

Rated R : for violence, bloody images, language throughout, and some drug use

Samara Weaving : Samara gives a really fun filled performance. She’s popped up in some small roles but I hope after this film gets some more attention as she damn well deserves it as here she gives such a rich and solid performance. In The first part of this film she’s very much I’ll say a damsel in distress as she’s reliant on the others to help her but by the second half of this film she’s very independent and turns into a total badass. She gives this character such life with a great layer of authentic emotion brought to the screen their wasn’t one moment where I wasn’t invested into her character or her performance. She was able to light up every moment of this film with great depth brought to the role as she can have this shaky and scared tone in her voice and tears be streaming from her face out of being scared out of her mind and the next she can be a total badass and be having such fun onscreen and that’s what is so fun about watching her performance in this film it’s her ability to switch up the tones in her character and show another side which she does and makes it look effortless. This is definitely as of now her best performance I’ve seen from her I can’t wait what she has next but she packs such great layers into this performance you can’t take your eyes off of her and she really carries this film. 

Matt Bettinelli - Olpin, Tyler Gillett : Matt and Tyler crafted a great concept but executed in a ok matter. This film is very much style over substance and it perfectly sums it up by that as this film’s idea was so well done and interesting but the way it is done is not solid as the film has a hard time finding its footing but at the same time it is still a very enjoyable film as it has very well set up action sequences with a terrific performance from its lead. And it has some very deep rooted messages about family and tradition woven into the film that you the audience can take away and learn from. But the film falters with weak and I would go as far as saying non existent character development in some of its characters which made it so difficult to grapple onto their characters and care for them when theirs not much substance to get into. It has a great idea and concept and two really good performances and an overall fun movie but with some very easy fixes this film could of improved vastly as it does have some very big glaring flaws that are hard to overlook and besides that the directors did a fine job at bringing this very different dark comedy horror to the screen in a very enjoyable way.
