Movie Review : Where Is Kyra?

Where is Kyra?
This film is a dark and brooding raw depiction of desperation and loneliness wrapped with a captivating tour de force by Michelle Pfeiffer. This film is a slow burn and can drag on for a while but it’s the performance by Michelle that keeps you watching to the end.

First off, this film isn’t a fast paced drama If that’s what you expect it to be the film is a very slow paced drama with tones of showing how desperate a person can get in their low points of their life and it’s heartbreaking to watch and is not a happy topic but the way it’s tackled is amazing. It’s quite a heavy handed subject but the director dose brilliant work here and knows how to tell a story and really Grip you.

Secondly, Michelle is at the height of her powers giving her best work she’s ever delivered a performance that is heartbreaking and so much more she is Oscar caliber good and come award season needs to be in the discussion because she’s brilliant in this and i would hate to see it be overlooked.

Lastly, this film can be boring to many due to its slow pace but I can’t stress enough watch this for Michelle’s performance you won’t be disappointed as well it’s a solid film overall that i would recommend.

This film Centres around a woman who looses her mother, becomes evicted, and loses her job but will She ever keep her head above water

Rated R : Language and sexuality

Michelle Pfeiffer : Michelle crafts her greatest performance captured on film! Michelle has been an actress lacking great roles or roles in general lately and she’s got great chops with the right script and right Director she can pull out a pretty extraordinary performance and she dose here in this film that left me heartbroken. She grips you the entire time with her depressing and dark role which she delves into with a grim face dedication that will keep you in constant awe of her the entire film. She constantly is knocked down on her feet and theirs only so much so takes until she eventually snaps and the way Michelle depicts that in the film is heartbreaking and sad and she’s one hundred and ten percent committed to every scene. This is her greatest performance period that she’s ever done and she’s a 3 Time Oscar nominee I can’t see this not getting recognized she’s absolutely outstanding in this film with the incredible layers she shows of emotion and her character arch shown in the film. She delivers her lines with such truth and realism when she says something it impacts you and hits you like a punch to the heart. I saw her character I didn’t see Michelle she just delves so deep into the role she completely disappears. She’s truly magnetic in this film and can’t stop gushing about how great she is heartbreaking, electric and Incredible in this film giving a career best performance.

Andrew Dosunmu : Andrew brings gripping and solid direction here. I haven’t seen any previous work of his prior to viewing this film but after seeing it I definitely would keep a look out for his stuff in the future. He showcases such hard topics through the film but is able to tackle them in a great way he shows isolation, Loneliness and desperation and how it can really damage and impact someone and the way he captures it onscreen is electric. He also got great performances from the cast and he had this tone to the film that made it feel like everyday real people so it had this authentic look to the picture that I just loved. He shows great strength in being able to tackle a very dark story but also keeping the audience into the film to the end. He brings solid direction here that could of been done wrong in the hands of someone else overall great work.
