Movie Review : Pirates Of The Caribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales

Pirates Of The Caribbean : Dead Men Tell No Tales
This is the best pirates film since the first one! The movie is a fun filled action packed thrill ride that doesn't let up for a minute. It's filled with fantastic action sequences terrific scares and hilarious comedy. As well as fantastic performances from Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, and Javier Bardem. The reviews on this film people are being to harsh on its a fun film and with the political climate the world is not right now I think everyone needs Jack Sparrow in their lives. Overall this film is one of the best films I've seen all year and if this is the finale to the series it ended on a high note.

This film is about Jack Sparrow and his search for the trident of Poseidon.

Rated PG - 13 : for sequences of action violence and some suggestive content

Johnny Depp : Johnny delivers once again another fantastic outing as everyone's favourite pirate in this terrific film. Johnny has played him for the fifth time and Every time he brings something new to the character and this time it was the amount of humour and it worked. Depp brought such great relish of humour to his performance which was hilarious and he also was able to be intimidating which he has been in the past but we haven't seen for a while which was Great. He could be the humorous Jack but then go really serious and I love how he can switch that so fast and make it look effortless. As well since he's played him for so long we've gotten to see so many layers of his character and we see more in this one which is great. Depp plays a man past his prime and the way he shows it onscreen was amazing you just see the tremendous weight on his shoulders and the emotion and depth he brings to his character in this film is brilliant. He just gets in the skin of Jack and completely disappears into the role he's so real onscreen and genuine I loved it.   Every time Depp is onscreen you can't take your eyes off of him and he shines and steals every scene with his electrifying onscreen presence. This is probably Depp's best performance of Jack since the first one and it's truly brilliant overall Depp shines once again and is extraordinary in the film.

Geoffrey Rush : Rush once again captivates the audience with his tremendous supporting role as Barbossa once again. Rush isn't in the film as much as the past films but he really shines in the scenes which he's given in the film. He plays a aged pirate and the years have caught up with him and the way he plays that was so incredible to watch. He went places emotionally with this fantastic character that I haven't seen Rush do before and it was fantastic. When delivering dialogue he was just so real and genuine he shouldn't be overlooked because his work in this is truly great. Overall Rush gives his best outing of Barbossa since the first one.

Kaya Scodelario : Kaya delivers a outstanding performance in this film. This actress I am unfamiliar with and have not seen her past work. But after seeing what she brought to this film I defiantly will Check her other work out. She's brilliant in this film she plays a woman who's in love with the stars and wants to find the trident and the way she plays the character was great. She brought this fun like ability to her and a sense of will power that her character can hold on her own and I loved that. She also was able to go toe to toe with Depp and Rush and really showcase her acting abilities in this film showing a wide range of emotions. She gave a great lead performance in this film that people should take notice it's a great performance.

Joachim Rønning & Espen Sandberg : These directors did a fabulous job with this franchise. What these two did so well was bring such a fresh take on a 14 year old franchise and really reinvent it by bringing something new which was great. They brought old characters back that we have come to love but also bring new characters in too while giving the audience an engaging plot line to follow and I think they did a great job with it all and truly delivered a great film. They didn't make it over complicated they just wanted the audience to have fun and I love that and that's why this film is so good is due to the great direction done in this film. Overall these two really did a terrific job at steering this franchise in the right direction.

The Lighting : The tones were big and colourful! The colours used was blue and grey and a gold light and I loved the mixture of that. It really made the frame pop and stand out it had the right tone the film needed great job guys.

The Cinematography : I loved it! The great wide shots of the islands and the sea were breathtaking. In every one of the pirate films they are able to execute the camerawork greatly and they do so once again here. They used different angles and really were able to capture the great scope of it all through the lens I loved it great job guys.

The Score : beautiful just beautiful! The music is so well composed I've loved the music in this franchise since the first film and have ever since. The ability the music has to capture the right feel and tone is genius and plays a huge character to the film and is definitely worth a listen
