King Arthur : Legend Of The Sword

King Arthur :  Legend Of The Sword
This film is a ok film with many flaws! When I first saw the trailer for this it looked fantastic and hearing it's directed by the visionary director of Snatch one of my favourite crime films I was pumped to see this film. Sadly I have to say I was let down by the film. The film is gorgeous to look at with great camerawork and production deign and costumes but the story falls flat and drags on to long. The positives I'll say first is the lead actor in this film Charlie Hunnam is terrific in this and one of the key reasons it kept the film from falling apart is due to his fantastic performance in this film. Secondly like I said earlier the look of the film is well done so is the score it's a greatly designed film. Now the negative aspect of this film was the overuse of CGI was too much for me it's a classic tale and I was afraid they would overuse it and they did. If they took that out of the film I think it would of made for a better movie because it didn't need the CGI not every film dose and this one was not one of them. Also the plot was very messy at times and showing scenes that wasn't relevant to the story and just put in for the sake of action. Jude Law in this film was as well very bland and I think Jude is a fantastic solid actor but he just didn't deliver in this. Overall Arthur isn't able to pull a good movie out of this rock.

This film is about a boy named Arthur who has a scarred past and doesn't know the incredible potential and power he posses until he pulls the sword from Stone and he soon realizes he is in for more then he thought he was

Rated PG - 13 : for sequences of violence, and action some suggestive content and brief strong language

Charlie Hunnam : Charlie Hunnam delivers a entertaining performance in this film. Charlie Hunnam I have not heard of or seen any of his previous work before seeing this film. After seeing what he brought to the film I for sure Will check out his future projects and past work. For one reason he's a solid actor who gives a fantastic performance in this. In the film he plays Arthur and suffers from his past and has to deal with the power he posses and the way Charlie was able to bring that to the screen was brilliant. If not for Charlie's great work in this the sword would of truly fallen but thanks to his great performance  in this film he single handily saves the film and is the best part of it. His great emotional range in this film is shown and he is so real in his character. It's not just from the dialogue he speaks that gives off a great performance but it is the eyes. The sheer look in his eyes is so real he is so genuine you feel the pain and see it in it. You not only buy into his performance but also makes you invested into his character as well getting you to care for him. Charlie delivers a truly great leading performance in this film and it's captivating from start to finish.

Guy Ritchie : Ritchie did ok direction in this film but what went so wrong? This man is a talented director but I think the mood he was going for was not the style this film needed. His brand of direction is crime films and this was a classic tale and I think he injected too much of his stamp of action on this film for the movie to stand on its legs as the tale we have grown to love. He had a solid cast but sadly was not put to proper use. Also the overblown action like I said really took me out and distracted me from the story that was trying to be told. Ritchie you are a terrific director but this film and your style of direction just didn't match up well and resulted in a ok film that could of been a fantastic one. Overall Guy gives I'm sad to say really poor direction on his part.

The Lighting : The colours in this film was very dark! The style this film went for was gloomy and grim which is what the colours expressed very well in the film. It reminded me of the colours used for the dark knight rises it felt very brooding and it was well done. It did a great job at the use of colours I thought they did a effective job on that overall I really thought it was well done great job guys.

The Cinematography: Great Camerawork in this film. The use of angles in this movie really reminded me of the Lord Of The Rings films for a reason. Those films used a lot of wide overhead shots and that's what this film dose as well and I love that. As well it just was able to capture the great scope of the environment the film was set in and capture every aspect of that through the lens very well done.

The Score : Beautiful music and composed score is used greatly in this film. The movie's score was so well composed the melodies and use of loud noises really fit the tone of the film and just immersed me in the world the film was set it. As well as the music too it just has that perfect balance of music and score to result in a greatly scored film I loved it one of the best scores for a film I've heard all year.

The Editing : The editing in this film was fantastic! They would show a scene and then make it fast forward then go back to its usual pace or when someone's talking show a visual of that then cut back to the scene. It just did a fantastic job at editing in this movie and it shouldn't go unnoticed it was very interesting and just great editing I haven't seen like this for a while and I enjoyed every minute of it.

The Costumes and Set Design : This film did a fantastic job with its production! The sets and costumes used throughout the film was great. It really made me feel like I was back in that era and I was very immersed in that world and it did a great job at that due to the great sets and Costumes. The costumes fit the characters and their personalities but also the time the film is set in. Same can be said for the sets it was well build and just brought another layer of realism to the film and the era it was set in I loved it great work.
