Movie Review : Ghostbusters (2016)
Ghostbusters (2016)
When Erin finds her past is haunting her promotion she comes to the person who is bringing stress from her getting her promotion let's just say Erin ain't afraid of no ghost
This film is an outstanding reboot! I don't understand all the hate towards the film trailers and all the news leading up to it they proved the haters wrong. It brought the slime, the laughs and the chemistry. What people are getting wrong when reviewing this film is you can't compare it to the 1984 classic because its not going to be as good as the original classic. You need to let this film stand on its own and not compare it and then you will finally enjoy this slime fest of a movie because it's a marvellous reboot for the franchise.
Rated PG - 13: scary scenes, language
Kate McKinnon : Kate stole the show with her scene stealing comedic talent! In this film I thought Kirsten Wiig would be the strongest actor in the film no surprisingly not. Kate stole it with her fantastic performance and comedic chops. When she was onscreen you couldn't take your eyes off her for a Actress not that very well known to stand out in a huge cast is hard to do and she is genius in the film. Her character has so many interesting layers that you want to find out more about her. How she's funny is that she knows the right time to make the right joke and her method works making the audience go in tears of laughter. Their was just something when she's onscreen her performance is just electric. She's a standout in the film and her performance is one of the reasons why this film is such a fun ride. What she also dose that's great is she knows how to channel her acting range. She can be serious and make it convincing and then transform to the funniest person in the room making it so genuine and real with her performance and emotion in the film. Overall fantastic performance from Kate!
Leslie Jones : Another great performance is from non other then Leslie Jones. When news broke she was going to be in the reboot of ghostbusters people had negative responses to her casting choice. And that they said she wouldn't be funny my god did she prove them the haters wrong giving a stronger performance then Melissa McCarthy. What she did that made her performance so good was her ability to get the audience to buy her character and believe her performance she gives in the film. Her and Kate are the two strong actors in the film and both of them not well known but have been on SNL. So Jones has that comedic experience and background. I thought she would tire her character out by being all jokes for the entire film she didn't do that she provided the jokes and funny one liners at the right time. She just embodied Patty incredibly well bringing energy and heart to the character as well comedy and that great mixture results in a terrific performance. An entertaining performance from Leslie Jones.
Paul Feig : Paul walked a tight rope and managed to stay on the line without falling. When announced the director helming this project was going to be non other then Paul Feig the director that did BridesMaids. When I first heard that I was nervous because I didn't think that he would be able to provide a successful reboot to one of the most loved franchises of all time. And I can say he did a good job not amazing but good. What he did that I liked was their we're moments in the film where I jumped and got scared and I liked that he injected that in the film. Reason being the original classic was scary and funny that's what made the film so smart and entertaining which is what Paul brought back to the reboot I was very pleased to see that. As well he didn't constantly shove references to the original film down the audiences throat which was nice he has cameos of the original cast and little Easter eggs to the 1984 classic. You can't be comparing this to the classic because it of course won't come close to the greatness of that film you have to let this film stand on its own as a reboot like how Star Trek (2009) did. As well he had good laughs that didn't feel forced they were smart comedic jokes overall great direction.
The lighting : the colours and mix of tones in this film really made the picture stand out. They did a good job at making it very well colour and it also fits the tone of the film the tones were well done great job guys.
The Soundtrack : some of the tracks were ok but the fall out boy track ghostbusters got some negative backlash. But I got used to it and it's a nice spin and cover of the classic song great tracks in the film loved it.
